Tonight being Halloween, and from the story below, I kinda wanted to open this debate earlier....

Myself, I'm a fan of the early
Halloween series...
The Michael Myers character was just scary as hell without a lot of gimmicks
Watching a young Jamie Lee Curtis and P.J. Soles didn't hurt the cause either

I hated those Hellraiser movies..that stoooopid pinhead..
\
Nightmare on Elm Street got old..the one about the dreams was scary, I only watched a few...
Halloween, the first one, was really scary..I thought..more than any of the others, except for maybe the second one...

I like Friday The 13th Part 2 (with the sack on Jason's head before the hockey mask)

also back before Jason got superpowers
Halloween 1 was also a real good one.

Only one true horror movie.
The Exorcist
I recommend anyone who is young who wants to start watching horror flicks, no matter your age watch that first.
I made my lil sister watch it at age 8. After that, she was not scared of any movie ever, and the next night she wanted to get part 2 which sucked.

I know one of the dumbest ones
The Slumber Party Massacre

"chainsaw? machete? ax? nah that's all been done.
How about a 2 foot drill bit?"

"Jaws" came in a surprising second, largely because of the number of times the great white shark chomped into its victims...." as per the article quoted.....
I, personally, am afraid of some Landsharks...fins to the left, fins to the right

I remember this as a kid
And that's no way to treat a Shelltoe Adidas
House of 1000 Corpses was quite disturbing
And a new one called
High Tension is definitely brutal.
Saw was also good

They are not for me either. Never really were.
I agree with the ORIGINAL Halloween being a good flick and also the original movie The Fog with Adriene Barbeau. They have new version out or being released very soon. The original Psycho rates right up there. Hitchcock made so many truly awesome movies. The Birds, North by Northwest, Rear Window, Vertigo, etc. Not really slasher movies, but definite suspense and Hitchcock was definitely the Grand PooBah and Master of suspense. No one even comes close to his works today.
"Pinhead" and "Freddy Kruger" I never really watched to any extent or had any desire to. I did see one of the "Jason movies" but I forget which one it was so long ago.

yes, the original. Slasher movies don't usually scare me, but that one did.
Killing people and selling Bar-B-Que on the side of the road just seemed so realistic. LOL

There was something about Adriene Barbeau. I always concentrated on her (for some reason) and was never scared , but I was tense.
