Do you Forgive and Forget?

Last week I found out my best friend of 5 years betrayed me, and I'm not talking a little betrayal..this is big.
I've never been a forgiving person, I believe that if someone hurts you once it's their fault, and if they hurt your twice it's your own fault. I'm famous for not letting this happen and cutting people loose. I just don't deal with it.
She admits what she did, says she's done it before to me, and will most likely do it again. she admits she lies to me, and to others about me. She just doesn't sound stable.
So my question is am I wrong to be so unforgiving all the time, and how do you handle things, do you forget and move on, or do you send them packing.?

Tough call. It really depends on the situation. I suppose that it depends on what this girl did to you.

Nope, you're not wrong. I had to learn the hard way that you shouldn't trust too many people, if any. This doesn't mean you shouldn't be nice to people, meaning if someone says hello to you - you should say hello back, just be weary of what people want. Always take the attitude that everyone is out to get you. Also, there are things that you should keep hidden from anyone.

In this case, move on. You will feel much better not having to deal with any future drama.
In regards to forgiving and forgetting, just depends on the situation. Not trying to sound wishy washy, But sometimes I can, and sometimes I can't

She used a tragic and traumatic event in my past against me and to her benefit.
We'll just put it that way.

She doesn't sound like someone who qualifies as a "friend".
Drop her like a hot potato.

Isn't it kind of scary that pop culture/a tv show has influenced the Smiley Face Guy? Just a random thought.

She sounds like a c-word to me... Don't talk to her again and hire a contract killer to have her removed from my planet immediately...

I may be inclined to forgive someone that was truly sorry, but that sure doesn't sound like the case here......forgive, maybe......forget, never.
I certainly wouldn't put yourself in a situation to be hurt by a person that admits they're likely to do it again.....geez.

The contract killer is probably easier for us to hire considering we're in the right city. Maybe they can even invited us out to see their work - you know - before you sign the contract and all.

I can forgive and move on, but I am unlikely to forget, especially for a repeat offender.
But I would have a very hard time calling someone who repeatedly lies to you, and says they will continue to do so a best friend. While you might want to keep this person in your life, I would not classify her as a best friend.

My girlfriend is Italian and I'm convinced that her father is a mafia boss... If I can just get her to admit it to me I can probably get a family discount or somethin'...
