From someone who has been in your shoes, and not that long ago, it does take a lot of courage to stand up and fight for what's right. If you can touch one person with your story and help them grow their courage, you've done more than you can imagine. Getting yourself out of there was the best thing you could have ever done and I'm sure you realize that. Congrats and good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll set my VCR time tonight to tape it!

You dug deep and found the courage and strength to make the changes you needed and to move on. The world is your oyster (and beer  ), nothing can keep you down now! As difficult as it is to share your story, think about the lives you will touch by doing so. That's pretty powerful. :D

I haven't had a chance to read all of your most kind replies...

BUT, I do know that GENTLE breezes and KIND thoughts were sent from the BN seas.... I was so thrilled to get the call last night that I wouldn't be on LIVE. I would have pooped my hula skirt, to be certain.

Regardless.. did anyone tape it??? Or could someone still tape it.. it still hasn't been shown in Central or Pacific time.

I would so appreciate it...

Again, thank you all for the love you sent. This community ROCKS.

I gotta sign off.. pack up and head for the airport to get back to Oregon to my real life and leave this surreal stuff behind me. ciao and amour!!! (sincerely.. to each of you, "thanks so much!!!"!!)

I wasn't able to watch since I was fulfilling my sentence of having to ride Amtrak for an hour & a half, BUT I hope you now feel a sense of relief and satisfaction that you were now able to share such a difficult part of your life. It was brave what you did. Kudos to you.

I thought you were terrific, and courageous to go on camera. Though I know you were scared, i wish they had interviewed you live along with the other woman.

You're very courageous to share that story, Beach Blonde. I wish I would've known about you being on the show. (I guess I need to read the right threads around here more often).
Anyway, all the best to you. I know if you got through that period in your life, you'll get through anything with flying colors. I'm sure the taping went well, and know in your heart you've probably made a difference in LOTS of women's lives.
The music of Mr. Buffett is pretty awesome isn't it? I'm so happy that it helped you through all the down times, but be strong, believe in yourself, and don't ever say "can't". Whenever you need to, let your friends BE your friends. That goes for us here as well. We're ALL here for you whenever you need us. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to ask-it's what we all do.
Thanks again, and peace & Godspeed to you.

You did great, Beach Blonde! I thought the other lady was an actress until they kept her on for the interview. She was very emotional, while you were calm and matter-of-fact. Very proud of you for speaking out about what you went through. My son (13) insisted that I tape it so he could see it when he gets home from school. We were all excited that "someone we know" was on the Today Show. :)

You know what frustrates me? When Katie asks a 2-minute question, asks the other "expert" to comment on her question, then says "real quick" to the interviewee, and cuts her off after she speaks for 20 seconds. They don't trust the interviewee to make the point they want made. Or they're just so used to talking they can't shut up and LISTEN. It probably would have been frustrating to you to be interviewed live and not get to say anything, after all that build up.

^5 and FINS UP!!! :) :) :)

You were great, Gaylyn!

What everyone else has already said: you are brave and beautiful, first to get away from all that abuse, and second, to share your story and thereby help others.

I'm baaaack....

What beautiful posts and PMs. "thank you's" just aren't enough!!

When I was in this relationship/marriage... he didn't allow me to have "friends" Truthfully, I got to the point that I didn't even know how to make them and wondered who would even want someone like me in their lives.

Today, I have friends... most I must admit are "online" but never=the=less, friends.

To each of you, a very sincere, "thank you." My own words can not express to you my heartfelt gratitude.

Onto another topic.... The Today Show told me that I was cut out of the live section due to legal reasons.. etc. BUT, I think it was because I was so "matter of fact, etc." I refuse to continue being a victim...

Anyway, it was an amazing and surreal experience BUT, I would have rather met Jimmy and shared a Margie or Corona with him.

Godspeed!
