Hello Phruits :D

I know Jimmy's cover of "Southern Cross" is on numerous live albums but one of my buddies asked me if Jimmy ever recorded a studio version of this. I told him no not that I am aware of but I just figured I'd post it on here just in case there just so happens to be a studio version out there :D 8)

I hate it when bands do that. It always seems like they ran out of ideas for songs.

I don't know. I've heard him do Lyle Lovett's "If I Had a Boat" with and without Lyle Lovett and I thought it was fantastic. Great song. Personally, I love Southern Cross as well...even better than the original!!!

Scarlet Begonias
All along the watchtower
If I had a Boat
He did a cover of a Johnny Cash Song last year in Vancouver, WA
I can't :pirate: Remember what it was.
Mac the Knife without Frank Sinatra

saw him do "In my life" by the beatles a few weeks after sept 11th. It was such a great songs so fitting at the time. Also saw Horizon has been defeated by jack Johnson last year in vegas. It was much better than the original.

In my opinion, 2 of his best covers

Purple Rain would have to be incuded. He did a few bars of Purple Rain at Nissan 2004 and then broke into WDWGDAS. He was really doing a good job at Purple Rain too.

Not sure why that bore repeating since I said pretty much the same thing in my post.

You would have to include "No Woman No Cry" from the Club Trini Live CD although a studio version may not be as good.

I think its my job thought you were saying that "5:00" was already on an album, which as you said it is. I think he meant it as Jimmy and Mac doing it as they do in conerts.

Add Glory Days to that list.

I don't know if I'd want an all cover album for the reasons aero said at the beginning of the thread, plus a lot of the time the concert versions have so much more energy, that it would be as much fun to hear a studio version of his covers that rock the crowd at concerts.

I was saying it was already on an album, Alan Jackson's, just as "it's my job" did. The way it was worded it was though I'd said it was on a Buffett album. I don't get the "Mac and Jimmy" reference as nothing was said about that at all by either of us.

I'd like to see this one as well! I also enjoyed him doing "heart of gold" at the 10/29 Vegas show and w/Dave Matthews at the "From the Big Apple to the Big Easy".

I think "imj" wanted it to be a studio of just Jimmy and Mac, without Alan Jackson. In concert when Jimmy plays 5:00 Somewhere Mac takes the place of Alan Jackson and sings the 1st and 3rd verses and Jimmy takes the 2nd, hence the Mac and Jimmy reference. :)

I don't really like the idea anyway and hope he never does it. :-?
