I am on a mission! I want to have all of Jimmy's 33" records. I can't play them but its fun seeing all the pics and reading the liner notes....and it brings back fabulous EARLY memories of JB! I have all his releases in CD so that I can actually listen to them, and I feel no need to get back the numerous 8 tracks and cassettes I once had... but several of my vinyl albums are missing in action and I have decided to get them back!

I hit eBay and found several titles for a reasonable price. But I don't know what I am missing. CDs started being produced around 1988 but I am not sure when Jimmy stopped recording on vinyl.

You should really be more careful with those SUNFLOWER seeds. I hear they can damage the vinyl.

It is just like the cover of the album....same size...probably shiny cardstock, and on the back it has Jimmy Buffett lettered in
purple with a turqouis background written 3 times. Not very impressive, but it was unique from all the albums I saw like this.

(It would be nice for framing and is such a priceless photo of Jimmy with the water flying off his feet. The photo is by Jean Pagliuso, as is this one. I would have liked to be her bestfriend and tagged along for this shot.)



The photos from the Hot Water time are among my favorites of Jimmy.

Thanks for the list and discussion.... I still have a long way to go! But I tell ya... after digging these out.... CDs may be the new wave of sound.... but nothing beats the albums!!! The pics, liner notes..... the size, the scratches, the smell.......just the whole package....

There is Rancho Deluxe on ebay... I emailed the seller...something like $60 for the reserve price.... I think I will continue to scour garage sales for that one!

That’s very strange, you would think they would use the ink and paper more wisely to include the lyrics and track by track notes by Jimmy instead of repeating the same thing as the front cover, and with the lyrics etc. just being all text it would have used much less ink and all. It’s just the weird thing with Hot Water, the CD has lyrics and extra liner notes for each song, but is missing the neat photo you mentioned from the vinyl’s back.

Off to See the Lizard is a similar situation, the vinyl has no lyrics but the CD does…

There is no one album that includes all notes and artwork on both formats…

BTW, I just started working on rebuilding the site. I have a list of scans I still need ( and about 80% of the source materials are in my possession, I just don’t have a scanner that’s easily accessible), and with that Hot Water poster I suppose I need to add one more to the list!
