Now that one just makes me think of Arte Johnson. I was wondering if anyone was going to say something like that. When I had to write varying sociology theses' for my classes (psych major), there were very strict guidelines on who/what/how, etc. and the implications if you were going to use people/places without their knowledge, even if you were doing it out of curiosity. Also wouldn't be the first lawsuit to come out of actions like that. But that's just my opinion.big hat carmen wrote:In my experiences in college, my professors would thrown that thesis back at me and my a$$ out of school.iuparrothead wrote:Which IMHO is complete and utter b.s.big hat carmen wrote:Some people were treated to crude and rude comments from OTE when he posted here under another name. I am in graduate school, ready to begin my thesis work right now AND I do academic medical research for a living and there's no possible chance in hell you could execute legitimate research by posting to a discussion board. He's full of crap.big hat carmen wrote:In my experiences in college, my professors would thrown that thesis back at me and my a$$ out of school.iuparrothead wrote:Which IMHO is complete and utter b.s.big hat carmen wrote:Some people were treated to crude and rude comments from OTE when he posted here under another name. Nope. Either way, you can't publish disclosed personal identity anyway even with consent... violation of human subjects laws. You'd never get an research proposal approved through an Institutional Review Board that included posting to a discussion board.sunseeker wrote:I think....but I'm not 100% sure....that studies can be done.....as long as you don't reveal the identities....
The most he can legitimately claim is experiential learning. There would be no inclusion or documnetation of his interaction here in his thesis.
