I would buy it again tomorrow, and I'm giving one to a friend, but it could have been better, much better. Since we are in the high tech age, makes you wonder why they can't get the crowd reaction and the music like they did on TTS. The crowd is such a big part of the experience. I'm not complaining, just wishing for better as a fan.

I don't know nothin about nothin! I am NOT an audiophile, or a videophile for that matter.
And I LOVED the DVD!!! They probably figure there are enough people out there like me, who don't know any better!
My husband constantly switches between regular and HD on the TV, and raves about what a phenomenal difference it is... I just don't see it. I couldn't tell you which is which.
Speaking of HD... didn't Coastal Confessions have like 12 HD cameras or something? I'm guessing when that's released, it's more likely to meet the standards of the "techies" in the world.
The Fenway DVD was just a bonus... "throwing us a bone" if you will. I wouldn't have bought the cd set, if it didn't include the DVD.

Well I did not pay a cent for this... Applebee's did
(for winning a sales contest I got a best buy gift card) And although I can see where both sides of the argument are coming from, I will be happy because beggars can't be choosers! Not to mention it is better than any DVD I could ever put out so I admire the people who made it just for knowing how to do it!
So yes, I am satisfied! I got a great CD and DVD for free and some entertainment along with it... It made two 12-hour bus rides a lot more pleasant

I just bought it yesterday and watched it last night.
I thought it was great.
The picture looks great to me, especially on the new tv.
The sound is good too. I like being able to hear the audience and get the real live feeling of a show.
The hot chicks are cool. Sure they're not really parrotheads and don't sing the words to one single song but as long as they're hot they'll do
The 16 bucks spent was well worth it!!

So I guess this means that if I play the DVD in my tv set with just plain ole tv speakers, it makes no difference!!??
If I play it in the computer with a proper sound card and all the speakers set up, or with a home video system with 5.1 surround sound and the appropriate speakers, it will make a difference.
Correct?

As long as the audio is encoded in that format. Look on the back of the cases. You can also tell by using the display functions on the players. Yes you can hear the Fenway DVD on your good ole TV speaker, just not the effect of the Dolby 2.0. My stereo is from 1988 or 90 ( I can't recall), so I'm not that much of a step higher.conched wrote:If I play it in the computer with a proper sound card and all the speakers set up, or with a home video system with 5.1 surround sound and the appropriate speakers, it will make a difference.

Because we buy it no matter the quality. Why on earth would he go through all the effort when he can put out something less and still sell it? Its all business these days.I don't undertsand why he didn't just come out with a full length DVD of the show? I mean, I don't get it. He could sell as many DVD's as CD's, almost. Like, the Live in Hawaii, then the short DVD for 10 bucks...it's all been garbage productions. Why not do one full length show, from top to bottom, with menu's, 5.1, and backstage stuff. I know it won't be a top ten DVD for weeks on end, but it will sell to all the parrotheads, same as his CD's. I mean, the man puts his name on everything from food to t-shirts to even condoms...I'm sure he can pop out a quality DVD. It just baffles me. Although some artists are like that. Maybe JB feels that might eat into his live act, maybe someone who's never been will see it and not want to go...I don't know.
As for the DVD, I enjoyed it thought much like my chief complaints of his recent live albums, it doesn't seem to capture the feeling of the show as much as i would like. But I still enjoyed it.

A minor objection to this assertion..AlbatrossFlyer wrote:as clearly marked on the backside of the packaging...
These concerts were recorded from the sound board at each show- nothing has been edited - nothing has been altered in any way. Warning: this CD may contain profanity and/or senior moments. What you hear is what happened. J.B.
the "WDWGD / Sweet Caroline" track had "Purple Rain" edited out
(as well as any reference to "Purple Rain" in Jimmy's "outro" speech)...
I have a copy of the RM feeds..
I assume Prince was being a dick and would not allow copyrights...

Unfortunately. It seems like he would at least go the extra mile for the speciality discs such as this one and last year's Live In Hawaii. The sadder thing is that very few of the fans even seem to care (as evidenced by some responses in this thread).SchoonerWharf wrote:Because we buy it no matter the quality. Add me also to the ones who like it. I guess that I am not a techno geek and I don't have the fancy equipment. I have watched the DVD a couple of times and have enjoyed it, especially since we had a little snow a couple of days ago in Chicago. Would I have preferred a whole show-yes. But than we would have people arguing why this show and not the one I was at.
