Great internet radio (besides RM)

Post by Y-NO-9-O »

I just have to tell you all about this great local radio station. It is 95.7 The Ride out of Hickory, NC. They are also streaming at http://www.957theride.com. This is an independent radio station, unencumbered by the mega-communications-corporation BS (their slogan is “Independent and loving it”). They have a great library (although, IMHO a little too much Fleetwood Mac, but that’s another post). They play Jimi Hendrix, Tom Petty, Santana, the Stones, Bowie, Clapton, and a bunch of other artists. BUT the main reason I post this is because they play Jimmy Buffett at least a couple times a day! Sure, you hear a lot of SYKBH, but yesterday they played Last Mango in Paris. The real kicker: the other day they played Take Another Road! I could not believe it. I don’t think I have EVER heard that song on the radio. So, I have to give them props for digging into an artist’s discography and not just from the greatest hits album.
Oh, yeah, another cool thing is that at 11:00 am on Thursday (Thanksgiving) they will play the entire Alice’s Restaurant Thanksgiving Day Massacre by Arlo Guthrie (You can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant...). There will be a replay around 7:30 pm. I confirmed this with the DJ this morning.
Give them a listen, tell ‘em Jeff sent ya!

KBCO Studio C in Denver
http://www.kbco.com/pages/studioc-kbco2.html

This is the description the site gives.
It's all here. Thousands of great performances recorded right in Boulder at KBCO Studio C. Favorites like Sarah McLachlan, Jackson Browne, Steve Winwood, Elvis Costello, Matchbox Twenty, Sheryl Crow, and John Mayer along with Buddy Guy, Madeleine Peyroux, Tom Waits, Cake and hundreds more.

Some fluff, but some of the live recordings are really neato too.
