Disc Golf (Frisbee Golf)

Post by mings »

Does anyone around here play disc golf?

I'm looking to buy some new discs and I was wondering if anyone out there had any preferences?
"Oh all the money that e'er I spent, I spent it in good company.
And all the harm that I ever did, Alas it was to none but me.
And since it falls, unto my lot, that I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and I'll softly call, 'Goodnight and Joy be with you all.'"

Or you can play the redneck way....set up an empty cooler in the yard (of course having a loaded cooler next to you is essential).....a few frisbees...or anything that will fly in the same manner.....and try to get 'em into the empty ice chest. :D

Sam, its what he said, however, the "redneck" way sounds interesting as well. Basically, it's like golf, but the holes are baskets and each hole is a shorter distance. The discs are smaller special frisbees. Its a lot of fun.

It is a great time, and its amazing teh network that exists. there's world championships, and several websites and businesses dedicated just to it. I play at the oldest course on the east coast & third oldest in the country. I used to drive by it all the time until this summer. Now theres hardly a weekend that goes by that I don't play a round or 2.

I just took it up this summer. As far as equipment, I got a set of 4 discs and a bag for about $50 at my local Dunham's sports... There's several online stores to buy gear from as well, but the discs will cost you between $7-15 each, you can start out with as little as 2 discs (a "driver" and a "putter").

we use to play it in our neighborhood when we were younger...........we had a bunch of kids and lived in a area that was back roads.......so we would set up a nine hole layout with a hole at each persons home.......it was a lot of fun

Yeah - i've actually got 4 discs (putter included) but I want to upgrade. I'm not sure which way to go. I have 2 Innova discs, and 2 random ones. I was wondering what people's thought were regarding disc weight, brand, model, etc. My putter is fine, but the drivers are getting chewed up since I play at Sedgely - a very wooded course here in Philly.

OK here is the info I could get...

get a golden retriever I guess they are the best thing to have
it gets discs out of the water and they have there own web site
a lite tripod chair.. to wait for the group ahead.

Innova Pro and Champion ORK I guess this is an ebay item as no longer made.

Pro and Champion Beast.
Rhino Putter
Classic rock Champ and DX

but not too many DX as they do not last very long..
Pro and Champion Wraith
CFR bag get the large not the touring
Mid range Roc

Jay said in the 170-175 range mostly with a 160 or 2
He said some people have light discs for nice days
and heavy discs for windy days
IHOP this is silly, just learn to throw the heavy ones
and if you are in a Tournment and have to throw the heavy
ones for 2 rounds a day your arm will not fall off. :D

He said wait around one day and catch a two or threesome
of guys that have nicer bags and equpt. ask to play along and get tips
and hints.

Good luck

perfect - exactly what I was hoping to find here. Thanks Wayne. Now to go to eBay, and down to Sedgley so I can get a round in before the Eagles Packers kickoff.

Thanks again.
