WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Coffee and tea may reduce the risk of serious liver damage in people who drink alcohol too much, are overweight, or have too much iron in the blood, researchers reported on Sunday.
The study of nearly 10,000 people showed that those who drank more than two cups of coffee or tea per day developed chronic liver disease at half the rate of those who drank less than one cup each day.

I'll have another cup too! I heard only a few days ago that coffee also stimulates short-term memory!

It must. I used to go through at least half a gallon of tea a day back in my hometown. If I didn't, I can only imagine the shape my liver would be in now. Preventative medicine I suppose.

Study: Coffee could shield liver from alcohol damage
By Carla K. Johnson
The Associated Press
Chicago - Coffee may counteract alcohol's poisonous effects on the liver and help prevent cirrhosis, researchers say.
In a study of more than 125,000 people, one cup of coffee per day cut the risk of alcoholic cirrhosis by 20 percent. Four cups per day reduced the risk by 80 percent. The coffee effect held true for women and men of various ethnic backgrounds.

Yet another reason I should not drink alcohol ... it makes me sick ... and will make my liver bad .. and I cannot have caffeine .. cause that gives me side effects - to counter the effects of the alcohol ....
therefore .. I am screwed

Nah your not screwed. I have side effects too. The coffee makes me want to move on to beer, and the beer always makes me drink more coffee in the morning. It's really a brutal circle I tell ya.
