I read the series of books the year I was in Mexico as an exchange student. One of my host families had the 6-book set, and it was in English, so I was thrilled to read them and thought they were wonderful stories.

C.S. Lewis became religious later in life but I'd never heard of him being a Christian Scientist or Scientologist (two different things). A biographical movie from several years back that was done about some of that transformation is "Shadowlands" (Anthony Hopkins, Debra Winger).

I don't know whether I want to see any "Chronicles of Narnia" movies; I'm afraid film won't do justice to the wonderful pictures and images the books created in my mind. :)

I'm used to that though - I ALWAYS try to read the book before I see the movie. It's never AS good (well, I think LOTR was very well done), but it's always great to see someone elses interpretation of the characters and thing 'hey, that's exactly how I pictured that too! coool!"

I just don't see myself seeing a movie with that name. And yes, I will judge a book by its cover.

We saw it yesterday. It's pretty good, but I thought the battle scenes were a bit much for younger kids. Hence the PG rating I suppose...

I had never really heard of them either. A few weeks back I was chatting with an online friend that said that he could not wait until the movie came out. I asked what is was about and he said it was a GREAT series of books, sort of like Harry Potter and LOR. He HIGHLY reccomended the books and seeing the movie.

C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien were good friends and hung out at a pub in Oxford called The Eagle and Child, I will be visiting this place in a year and a half.

I picked up the large softcover containing all 7 novels at Barnes and Noble today. It has been MANY moons since I last read the stories so I thought a refresher might be in order. I hope I get a chance to see the movie.

I saw it on Friday, and thought it was great. The kids they cast were very good, and the animation was excellent. Beautiful film. I do agree that some of the battle scenes may be a little violent for younger children....but I would like to buy the DVD so my 'keet can enjoy it someday when he's old enough.

I had never read the book, but the whole series is on my Christmas list now...

I saw it on Friday and i thought it was awesome!

I love stories like this-where it's so good that y ou just wish it was real!!!

The kids in the film were adorable, especially little Lucy! I thought Mr. Tumnus was adorable too! I would not take a child younger than 8 or so to see this movie. I'm sure the wolves would've given me nightmares as a child (seeing as though I already had reoccuring wolve nightmares!). Oh and the white witch - boy I thought she was scary too. I thought the film had really good casting/costumes!

I was thinking during the film that the Pro wolf Movement
was cringing during this film.. :pirate: :pirate: :pirate: :pirate:

This is not meant to start a debate, but I'm curious - why do conservative churches applaud this movie but not condone Harry Potter?
