(insert fond Christmas/childhood memory here)

...as a kid we'd strain to hear Santa & the Reindeer's hooves on the roof?

...waking up to fresh snowfall and no school?

When I was a kid we had to walk 5 miles through the snow to get to school. I figure with all the smart asses here I should make a pre-emptive strike.

No, the terrain on the south shore of Long Island is kind of flat.

Fond CHristmas memory? Hmmm I think it would have to be CHristmas Eve service... aged 10-16.... My mother and I sang in the choir and we would sing the 11pm service.... The choir loft was in the front of the church... so we could see the entire church....it was always candlelight and the church looked so beautiful.....

My college age sister deciding she was going to match my Dad drink for drink at the family Christmas party and then watching her puke all the way home out the back window of the Ponitiac Catalina on the Edens Expressway at 60+ mph

woops, wrong spirits of Christmas

When my brother and I just happened to get up to go to the bathroom at the same time in the middle of the night after Santa had come... there were all these presents under then tree and he and I sat by the tree and shook them. I figured out I had gotten a baton and something else that I can't remember right now, but the big surprise came later that morning... a Barbie RV. I nearly peed my pants.

Along with those in the morning, I'd eagerly await seeing Santa Claus is Coming to Town, The Year Without a Santa Claus, and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer on primetime TV. I liked the Frosty the Snowman cartoon too, but really preferred the claymation ones!

Every year, to this day, we play the Dean Martin Christmas LP at my mom's house. I have a couple Dean Martin xmas cd's, but none match the tracks on the LP in it's entirety.

Hmmm - project for tonight! Do I have all of the songs on my assorted cd's? I can compile them in the "correct" order, and burn 6 copies for my siblings (and I) as gifts! woo hoo!

We always used to listen to the Gene Autry Xmas album after my sister and I went to bed.

For the next generation, I remember my niece when she was little-one Xmas eve she couldn't sleep, thenk she was FREAKING OUT b/c she thought Santa wouldn't come if she didn't fall asleep. That was a LOOOOONG night!

My best memory was when I was 6 and my parents got me a train set. From haloween on that year, I wasn't allowed in the basement but dad was spending a lot of time down there working on something. Christmas morning came, and after all the presents were opened, dad "found" one more for me. It was model trees for a train set, with a note attached: "The rest is in the basement". I probably broke a world record running downstairs where dad had the whole thing set up and running.
