Drink prices?
Just wondering is anyone has some stories about unusually cheap or expensive drink prices?
A friend and I were out one night at a somewhat upscale bar here in KC, and bought a Stoli-tonic and a Bud Light pint for $3.10.
The same friend paid $24 for a double Grey Goose-tonic at the Voodoo Lounge in Vegas.

You're love's put me at the top of the world

The last time I was in Honduras was January/February 2001.
The exchange rate was 15 Lempiras = $1 US.
Beer and mixed drinks on the island of Utila were $1 or 10 Lempiras. It didn't take long to realize that if I changed dollars for lemps and paid with the local currency that I could drink 50% more for the same money.

I paid either $20 or $30 for a margarita standing in line to get margaritas at the Texas Stadium concert last year.
I guess you had to be there...

(Can you still get free drinks while you're gambling?)
(I wonder how long I could make $24 last at the tables.)
(Of course it wouldn't be Grey Goose.)
(Actually, it wouldn't last long either.)
(Might as well buy a six-pack and drink in your room.)
(Hey, I can do that here.)

In Rio, after spending a long night drinking caipirhinias, I bought the entire bar a round of Jager bombs. My bill came to $142... but after conversion, it was $65 US dollars.
Mind you, in Chicago, I could get maybe only 7 Jager bombs and 1 caipirhinia with $65...

Yes, you still get free drinks when gambling. Last year in Vegas, I always had Corona, bucause the waitress always had them on her tray. If you ordered a drink, you had to wait for her to come back with it. When she came back with that persons drink, I had another Corona. It was great!

That's why you go for the $10-$15 all you can drink specials. I'm not gonna even argue with that
One of the places I go I get $4 cap'n and cokes...that's no skimpin on the captain either..A bit weaker than I usually make em (what's coke?
) but still a great drink..can't go wrong with that
All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz & i'm fine

Since I work in Manhattan and live in Philly I always thought that I had variety of bars (cheap and expensive) to choose from. Well, every week I go to this bar in Manhattan and order Stella - a 20oz "pint" costs $4. Well last Friday I went on a date here in Philly and ordered a Harp & a Stella, a combination that would typically cost me $8 in NY. $13.50!!!!!!!!!!!
WTF?!?!?!?!?!?! I'm not going back there. Just when I thought that everything in New York was more expensive.

AVOID AIRPORT BARS!!!!! Sheesh they are NOT cheap.BoozeInTheBlender wrote:Just wondering is anyone has some stories about unusually cheap or expensive drink prices?

Most of the local bars here are around $2.25-$2.50 for domestic beer and around $3.50 for mixed drinks. Some may be more...some might be less...imported beer and call drinks are higher and vary.
HOWEVER at least one private club that I know of has an "open to anyone night" and domestic beer is $1.00 and mixed drinks are $2.00.
When I was stationed in North Dakota...A buddy told me there was a place that had nickel beer night I only had $3.00 I said show me and away we went. We quickly became regulars! There was a guy that played the piano and they handed out or had available the song sheets and everybody sang along. Also had FREE all you could eat popcorn and roasted peanuts.
These were not the little cups either, you GOT A FULL 16 oz cup. We went in one night and a guy was throwing a fit.... they changed the price of beer to a dime. It was hilarious.
It was great place and a lot of fun for beer drinkers!!!
Roll with the punches, play all of your hunches...come what may...

My wife was Charged $15 for a Mudslide at CheeseBurger in Paradise in Greenville, SC. Reason? Mini Bottles! We were meeting with BHC & Cougie, and when warned of the price, She said NO thanks. But Cougie said THEY were picking up the tab, so he told the waiter to go get the drink. Thanks Terri & Wayne

There's a tiny bar down the road that sells pints of Point Beer (local cheap swill) for $1. Also, my first time in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, I stopped at a small bar on the main tourist street, ordered a Sol, and paid 13 pesos for it. The exchange rate at the time was something like 11 pesos/1 dollar, so I paid about a buck and a quarter.
My buddy and I were playing bar dice at a local watering hole, he rolled 5 ones, which according to house rules, means he had to buy the whole bar a shot, and the place was PACKED. Cost him $350.

A friend of mine from law school used to work a couple of blocks from my office and we would meet a couple of times a year for drinks after work. One time we went to the Bryant Park Grille (or Bryant Park Cafe, I forget what it's called
) right behind the NY Public Library in, surprisingly enough, Bryant Park. I had vodka and grapefruit juice, the bartender used Belevedere and it was $9. BB King's charges $7 for Sam Adams.

Larry, you may be a lawyer, but you gotta stop going to these big image places and hit up the pubs and bars. There's a whole ton of good deals out there.LIPH wrote:A friend of mine from law school used to work a couple of blocks from my office and we would meet a couple of times a year for drinks after work. It's NOT beer - it's a failed science experiment. And yes it does count.sunseeker wrote:does quarter draft night at the local college bar count?I'm not really sure what kind of beer it is...and how old it is.....
