A young man named Dan is the father of two sets of twins. He was born with a heart defect, knew it was there all his life. Had several surgeries as a teen. Recently it started getting bad. He suddenly found out he needed a heart transplant. It happened so fast, downhill problems, need for transplant, then transplant. Thank God he got the donor heart so quickly. But keep the donor family in your thoughts, his health in your thoughts and esp. his families finances. He lost his job due to the heart issues/insurance. His wife makes very little and is spending all her time caring for the kids, going to the hospital, and i'm assuming he will need alot of help when he comes home. they got the coverage for the surgery but there are alot of extra expenses, plus it's christmas.
Thanks guys.

As someone with a brother who needs a transplant and has lost a lot financially, I understand. Hope things go well, and good thoughts to everyone.

prayers to you too. This man knew all his life that one day a transplant would be necessary. He lives his life as normally as possible and has always been obsessive about health so that when the time came he'd be likely to qualify. It just happened so fast. Pa is a hire at will state so his employers could come up with any reason to let him go but it was about the cost of health insurance. He's actually doing better with disability and had better coverage for the surgery thru insurance for uninsurable folks.
I'll be thinking of your brother because as I said, suddenly it was time for the surgery and we figured it would be a long wait.

Thank you, OCG.. but as I told the kind Sheree.. it's been determined that the area around the heart is so damaged and in poor condition that a transplant wouldn't take. His heart is 3/4 dead, so we just keep being grateful for every day he's alive and putting in a few hours of work.

i'm so sorry. he's lucky to have family that loves him. Our friend was borderline between needing lungs as well because they have been damaged by the heart problems. Even though the transplant happened fast he's lived with this all his life.
I have an aunt who had a heart/lung transplant in the very early days. She got extra years but was so sick most of the time she wished she never had the surgery.

PHIN POWER UP AND ON THE WAY From Southeast Georgia.
Being an organ donor is important and I urge everyone that is capable of doing so becoming one if not already one.
If you want to save at least one life...it is clearly your choice to so...
Thank God for them and God Bless organ, tissue, and blood donors.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!
