wasn't the majority of the baseball thread about him? :)
Now ask yourself this question - why the heck would I be reading a baseball thread?

Caddyshack is about as good as it gets for either of them. Or course that one is pretty tough to beat. :pirate:

Murray has done some good dramatic work as well as comedy. Chase never really understood he works better as part of an ensemble.

Oh yeah, Stripes... that is a classic. Ghostbusters; good in its day, but I don't know if I could sit through it again now. Groundhog Day; yeah, it was cute but you can only see it so many times.

So we've got the two of them in Caddyshack. After that, its Chevy in the Lampoon Vacation series and Murray with Stripes and Ghostbusters.

Not true (at least to the "pulled out of nowhere part"). Several of the cast members were already working together with National Lampoon and had starred in a send up of Woodstock called Lemmings. Some of the other original cast members came from the Second City improvisational troupe.

one of the cool things to do in Chicago is go to the Second City Theatre, and look at the cast members going back to the founding... When you mix it, the Toronto troupe, and the Groundlings out of LA together, you have the major lights in comedy for the last 40 years.

Oh they were working, but from some of the interviews on the special the other week, they weren't really making any money. At least not enough to survive in NYC.

This was network television. This was their shot at the big time. Time for someone to see their talent (or lack thereof in some cases  ).

I'm just saying that I think that original cast was much more grateful to be selected than some of the folks are today. I mean now they talk about the SNL Career Curse (no good movies afterwards). If you don't go to SNL, it seems like everyone and their brother can get a spot on Comedy Central or their own television show.

IMO, SNL opened up the door for all the other comedians that wanted their shot at television.

Chris Kattan either makes me think that he screws his way to acting roles, or no one else in Hollywood has a lick of talent. Either way, I can't stand him.
