I ran out @ lunch and was listening to the radio... Bertie Higgins was on a phone interview from California.... When they asked him what he was doing he rattled off several things. The jock asked him about doing something with Jimmy Buffett.
"He said...well, Jimmy and I have the same lawyers... and Jimmy just signed with RCA in Nashville.... and I just submitted him 4 songs... so we will see what happens..."
I had to rush back to the office to share....
BTW... for those of you that don't know, Mr. Higgins is from Tarpon Springs a coastal community in Tampa Bay and famous for hits like Key Largo

Hmm...sounds interesting. Thanks for the update. I wonder if we can get any confirmation on him signing with RCA. What does that do to Mailboat?

With all due respect to Bertie, I surely hope Buffett doesn't cover any of his songs. The last albums was pretty good to me despite the proliferance of covers but I'd love to see Buffett penning his own songs again. Or at least Mac who seems to be better at it than Buffett these days.

I got the impression Bertie was talking about songs he had written not recorded.... but of course he would be no different than any other songwriter sending songs to an artist.
JAH... what do you make about Jimmy "signing" with RCA ... does that effect Mailboat?

Maybe the deal with RCA is just to distribute Mailboat's releases.

License to Chill was released by RCA Nashville.
If I had to venture a guess, it may be that the Hoot soundtrack will be RCA Nashville, to get the mega-pimping that LTC did.

That would be my assumption, as well...a promo deal as with LTC.

Another piece of speculation is, if he signed with RCA Nashville, that record contracts are usually signed for more then one record. So, we may be seeing multiple new JB releases in the next couple years with RCA. I love when he puts out new albums!
