They're in the subway, not the sewer. Although now that I think of it, that's pretty much the same thing. And in 9 1/2 years of working in NYC I've only seen 2 (normal size) rats.

Yeah, I've heard they are in the subway, but their still called sewer rats though, right?

You've only ever seen two rats? You must have good city extermination where you live and work then. In the warm months, I see 2 rats, on average, per day in the alley behind my house. I love hearing them play at night... :-?

Fess up, Ann. Cardboard boxes doesn't constitute a house.

Actually, in my 6+ years in NYC I've only seen a handful of rats. I actually saw more skunks and black squirrels at Fordham than rats. Weird - but when is NYC normal.

I actually, made "Rats" an option, but it didn't display it. I stink.

My apt isn't much more than a cardboard box... well, it's a bit sturdier, but not much bigger.

We have a really bad rat problem in our alleys throughout the city. They jump out at you from the trash cans sometimes.

If you leave an option blank at the end of your poll options, your entire list will appear... for some reason, otherwise the last option you enter doesn't show up when you submit.

Connalulu says it smells of heaven...

I know I'm going to regret this...but yes..to me it is what Heaven smells like...and Shane? Nothing in the world like going out in the Folly River, and getting your own oysters...or you can go to Bowen's Island..not a lot of people know about that place..Or they didn't used to..

But here it is...:

To describe our growing up in the lowcountry of South Carolina, I would have to take you to the marsh on a spring day, flush the great blue heron from it's silent occupation, scatter marsh hens as we sink to our knees in mud, open you an oyster with a pocketknife and feed it to you from the shell and say "There. That taste. That's the taste of my childhood."

I would say "Breathe deeply," and you would breathe and remember that smell for the rest of your life, the bold, fecund aroma of the tidal marsh, exquisite and sensual, the smell of the South in heat, a smell like new milk, semen and spilled wine, all perfumed with seawater.

My soul grazes like a lamb on the beauty of indrawn tides......

I was shaped by life on the river, part child, part sacristan of tides........my heart belongs in the marshlands....my heart is a lowcountry heart....

Don't worry... Charleston gets infested with gays from NYC and elsewhere during the Spoleto USA Festival each May. :)
