agreed- that stinks as well
it's damn hard to support a family on McDonalds pay

but a $15,000 ring these days is not that unusual....especially if it is an ANTIQUE. I had my old engagement ring reset into a new setting for my right hand...it is now appraised at $10,000 REPLACEMENT value....if I sold it i'd probably only get $3000-4000....

if it's old enough that it has mine cut diamonds that would add to the value.
