can anybody suggest anything?
here's a sample of what's in my car. don't laugh.
Gwen Stefani, Sublime, Damian Marley, Beck, Gorillaz, Black Eyed Peas, Jack Johnson, Kenny Chesney, TSimon and Garfunkel, Coldplay, Maroon 5, Toby Keith and osme other stuff even i'm embarrased to admit I listen to. Oh and alot of JB of course.
My tastes run to reggae, island, bit of hiphop, etc.Well pretty much I like anything but pure country and straight rap and easy listening. Help cause i'm getting bored plus the hubby will pick me up some for christmas last minute if i give him a suggestion or two.

Mary McBride, I saw her at BB King's a few weeks ago and she's really good. She did a version of Van Morrison's
Tupelo Honey that just blew me away. Unfortunately it isn't on either of her CDs.

No really....
Most of those artists' music you listed can't be more than 5 years old.
Rather than going sideways, and hearing more obscure structuring of today's sounds,
go discover the past... where most of the best music still lies.
Some of THE most creative and innovative music STILL is found from the '65 - '75 period... Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Elton John, David Bowie, Gram Parsons on and on.
Whatever you listen to today is almost certainly influenced by these greats of the recent past.

Southern Culture on the Skids. Fun music-It's what Jimmy would sound like if he came from the Deep South with no Caribbean influence.

Zachary Richard-An old friend of Jimmy's. Louisiana, Zydeco and Cajun influence. "Zack's Bon Ton" is one of my favorite CD's. I think Jimmy would do a great cover the song "File Gumbo".

And of course:
The Iguana's. "Superball" came out on Margaritaville Records.

These are just a couple that I would recommend.

I"m, ehem, er, 41yo. I've got alot of older stuff around. I just get tired of the older stuff and look for newer stuff. Examples of older stuff, Simon and Garfunkel, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Lou Reed, David Bowie, Gram Parsons, Neil Young, Springsteen, Aerosmith, Hendrix, well alot of it.
To go late 70's all I have to do is go high school days. I also have a fondness for motown so I pull that out from time to time. I'm well versed in the older stuff but I also like to have new things. And that's where i'm weak. I'll hear something on the radio, think, I like that. But not have a clue who it is.

I love Chris Botti (trumpet player for Sting). Sooo sexy. I have his last three CD's and they're all great.
Grover Washington's LIMELIGHT is awesome for some sexy sax.
I've been re-discovering my western SWING roots with anything by ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL.
Pat Metheny also rocks my world.
EARTH, WIND AND FIRE has a new CD out that's supposed to be great.
GARY SEILER makes me smile, too.
DIANA KRALL will put you in a lovin' mood, too.
DAVE MATTHEWS.
SINATRA AT THE SANDS is one of my road trip CDs. After all these years, I still love it!
Hope these help!

If you like some good bluesy southern rock, there's a guy out of Cajun Louisiana whols really good...Marc Broussard...the song "Home" on his "Carencro" CD is simply outstanding!

(The whole CDs good, but he'll blow you away on "Home".)

no no no don't like rap. I like some hip-hop which has a reggae feel. Big difference here. Remember I teach high school so it probably makes a difference as to what I listen to.
