Sandals would be a great choice.

More romantic than wild, for adult couples only.

We go to Sandals. No kids around, laid back atmosphere, places to "get away", constant activities if your into that, etc.. They really treat you very nice. If you want more info, pm me!

I used to have a co-worker who would go every year. Just from the way she and her husband described it you would have to have a fairly open mind/relationship.

Just to clarify...thats @ the Hedo resorts.... not Sandals or Couples...

And while Hedo is a favorite for nudists and swingers.... you dont have to be either to visit and have a good time.... you just have to not be bothered by it..... 8) No one forces you to participate.....

thank for the info, while we have heard alot of wild things, ,we have also heard what you are saying as well, and while we have no problems being around the 'festivities" , we want to just be there for ourselves in a more free atmosphere -
we have also differing reports about the condition of the properties and food any info on this? :D

People go on vacation and write reviews of the resorts. Read a few for a particular resort to get an overall feel of the resort becaus there may be a negative one or two.

i have also read some reviews of hedo and most are good w/ one or two bad, buti think they really didnt know what to expect. tripadvisor.com is a great site for this. it seems like couples or sandles is more inclined towards a slightly stuffier crowd. basically where would a Parrothead go? hmmmmm.

We enjoyed a place that has undergone some changes recently, but it is called Oasis at Puerto Aventuras.

The price was right and it suited us. We did some really fun excursions in the area, such as snorkeling in cinotes

Here is a link to updates since Hurricane Season.

If you're looking for adults only and Mexico - there are two Secrets resorts in Riviera Maya (about an hour south of Cancun) - Secrets Capri and Secrets Excellence. Both outstanding properties, very popular and 5-6 star. They are not cheap, but you do get what you pay for - pampered service, beautiful rooms, great food, very decent spa facilities. Still speaking of Riviera Maya, there is also the El Dorado Royale and the El Dorado Seaside Suites. The EDR is a bit nicer and more upscale than the EDSS, but it's also more expensive. The Riu Palace is not adults only, but is very adult oriented, you won't find many children here, and depending on the time of year you go, you may not find any. Beautiful hotel, great service and close to Playa Del Carmen. The price isn't too bad either - but thet depends on what you are budgeting for the trip. The Aventura Spa Palace is another one, but if you like a nice beach, this probably won't be the place for you as they have a manmade beach and no direct ocean access.

If you're talking outside of Mexico, say Jamaica - then any one of the Couples Resorts is my recommendation. Less expensive than Sandal's (you're paying for a name there too unfortunately) and generally gets better reviews. Hedonism attracts a "certain" kind of guest, and if that's not you, then neither is Hedo. Really doesn't matter if it doesn't "bother" you, just that there are better places to go if you're not actually looking for a resort like this.

The properties at Hedo l and ll..... I have heard are in need of updating...however I have no first hand experience. couples Ocho Rios is 5 star ...however it caters to a different crowd. Its alot like BuffettNews... you meet peeps from every walk of life, every age level and every economic status...... and you can make friends with all or none of them.

Oh...the nude island is So NOT sexual .... just for people who want to swim and sun au natural.....

You don't have to go to Hedonism to find a place that must be 18 or 21 or over to stay there.
When they run you out of town make it look like you are leading the parade.

I didn't mean to get anyone upset, but all the brochures I saw of Couples or Sandles show people in long pants and the like and also dressing for dinner. I can't see that in the tropics when shorts and tee shirts would be more appropriate. The only ting i have read about hedo which I wouldn't be to sure of, is the fact that the beach is not to nice.

we have been to Jamaica once (eons ago for our honeymoon) , St John several times and just back from the Keys right before Katrina hit, I am definately looking for a relaxed atmosphere, i dont want to dress in anything fancier than shorts or a bathingsuit (if I have to get dressed at all), this is why the brochures for couples and the like have kind of put me off, the people see to be really dressed up, is this just the brochure or is do the people really dress like that there? I have been to hotels where people are expected to "dress" and that is not what i want for this vacation. :D :P [/quote]
