Key West accomodations info needed

Post by CrznDnUS1 »

My wife and I am going back to KW for an extended weekend in March w/o the keets :D . Last summer we stayed at the Southermost hotel which was nice and were thinking about staying at the Curry Mansion which I have read lots about on BN, but was wondering if anyone might have some other suggestion to look into. I know that the Curry Mansion had a good breakfast and happy hour included and is only a half block off of the end of Duval St. but there also must be some other nice places fairly close the the activities as well. Also if we stay at the Curry Mansion and eat breakfast there we were planning on going back to the Blue Heaven so we will have to make it there for another meal and what are the reviews of that? I know as far as we are concerned the Blue Heaven has the best breakfast in KW.

I'm of no real help here, but I just have to put in another endorsement for the Curry Mansion. I absolutely love it there. The breakfast is indeed great and yes there's free beer and liquor...but as you see, the location is the best feature. 1/2 block from the bars...I loved it. They also have a nice pool table to kill a little time on if you like. Nice rooms and atmosphere....I'm going back

If you're looking to maintain a short walking distance, check out Marreros. Never been there, but heard its nice.

Marreros sounds nice too, but not too sure of the night time visitors. Except I am pretty sure that most of the places in KW have spirits lingering in one way or another.

I have to put in my plug for our favorite place . . .

. The Nassau House . .

have stayed there . . ummmm . .probably 6 times . .

the best of Old Town to me . . .

it's more north and west from Mallory Square . . but on Fleming , which is the cross street to Duval for Jimmy's . It's also about a 10 minute walk to Schooner's Wharf . .ShrimpBoat Sound and the marina. . .

please check out their website . . it's amazing . . .

Here's where I stayed last time I went...

Highly recommended since if you don't like the view, you can change it! I still have a free day coming to me due to the "Great Head Fiasco"

OK, so here is our short list and thanks for the info provided so far. They are in no perticular order. If anyone has any feedback on any of these please feel free to add your two cents.

Nassau Inn- Totally Booked
Eden House
Ambrosia I & II
Curry Mansion
Center Court Historic Inn
The Gardens Hotel(may be too fancy for coming in late after a night at the bars)
Simonton Court Historic Inn and Cottages.

BTW, not that it matters but we will be flying into FLL and renting a rag top to drive down and returning it the same day :D . Then flying from KW to FLL and then home. Any comments?

Driving down in a convertible is the only way to see the Keys! make sure to turn off US-1 onto Card Sound Road as you head south out of Florida City.

Our favorite upscale small hotel isn't on your short list. Take a look at the Marquesa Hotel http://www.marquesa.com/ a block off Duval, four blocks from Mallory Square. The Cafe Marquesa restaurant is some of the best food we have found on the island.

Southern Cross Motel - cheap and close to everything. How much time do you plan to spend in the room?

We usually stay at the Curry Mansion: we love it! The breakfast and happy hour are great, prices reasonable, location excellent. The only thing it's really missing is a decent pool.

Bacchanalia in KW? I don't think so. Bunch of tight-nosed prigs you'll see so many as down there... :D

Not to sound dumb, but what is "Bacchanalia"? Also I just read in the "Insiders' Guide, Florida Keys" that the beach is open til sunset and that it is one of the best un-obstructed views of the sunset if you need to escape Mallory Sq. Also it's a State Historical Site so I am thinking that adult drinks are banner. Or is that my Jerzey paranoida?
