When we say Tampa... locals are speaking of the entire Tampa Bay area.

On a Clearwater Beach Day, You Can Play Forever...

Powdery white beaches spread across 3 miles comprising Clearwater Beach, located West of the Tampa area. Visitors young and old alike will love this sandy paradise which is home to fishing, jet skiing, parasailing, catamaran sailing, as well as dolphin and pirate cruises.

Available nearby are the Museum of Science and Industry, Busch Gardens Theme Park (Northeast of Tampa), Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Tampa Stadium, Baseball Spring Training, Orlando Attractions (90 minutes east), fishing charters, Tarpon Springs sponge divers and more

Several Hotels are large enough to accomidate groups of all sizes. In addition to the beach, the obvious Tampa Bay area attractions are a big draw with visitors.

The Tampa airport is a 20 minute ride from Clearwater Beach. Busses, shuttles, rentals, and hotel shuttles are readily available. CLearwater Beach has at least 100 hotels some large some small. The Palm Pavillion in on North Beach and shares a parking lot with the famous Frenchy's Rockaway Grill.

I am really glad to see everybody jumping on this!! Very cool.

Tampa and Nashville seem to be the front runners. So, I am going to see if there are any venues, sponsors and the whole nine yards that are willing to have all of us play. The more people I know that will show the easirer it is to pitch.

Friday I want all of us to have an awesome time. Meet each other, put faces with names and all party together.

Saturday, I want to put on one helluva show, get nutty.

Sunday- see who makes the coconut telegraph! :pirate:  :P 8)

Jannus Landing is a very cool venue...

I may have a contact that works for the city of St. Pete...the mayor...another idea is outside across from The Vinoy by The Pier...

http://www.stpete.org/

Top right pic is downtown St. Pete...bottom pic is The Vinoy

It's right across the water from

But Nashville would work too...

If you pitch it to the Tampa Bay Parrot Head club... I would bet there will be several peeps who come out... there were a few hundred for the last Sunny Jim show.... I am not a member anymore but its an idea. Maybe they could come for the show... and here on BN we could still get a group rate for the weekend hotel.

I am not sure of the dates you are thinking...however keep in mind Late April, May and early Jun .... will be your cheapest rates on lodging.... February / March is highest....

There is a Hilton Hotel large enough to accomidate a group just south of the Palm Palvillion.... ON THE BEACH. I have been to numerous functions there over the years.Image

It sounds like we have city determined, although a date is TBD, how about we do a charity event of some sort as well. It does not have to be anything extravagant, but maybe some sort of fundraiser for a local charity, maybe with a little help from the local PH club. NOT that I believe we will be searching for activities, but I thought it would be a noteworthy gesture and garnish some publicity as well. Just a thought.

Partying with a purpose is all good, however:

For charity to benefit, excess cost would have to be built in... unless you're just talking about attempting to get donations for raffles or something.

I guess I should clarify, I think we should do something charitable while we are there. I'm not trying to incur any additional expense, maybe we just donate our time somewhere for a little while. A couple hours in the morning or early afternoon on Saturday.
