I tried to find the old thread about Christmas fruitcakes. But then I realized that this guy is an insult to fruitcakes everywhere.

Robertson says Sharon's stroke is God's punishment

The Reverend Pat Robertson says Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's massive stroke could be God's punishment for giving up Israeli territory.

The founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network told viewers of "The 700 Club" that Sharon was "dividing God's land," even though the Bible says doing so invites "God's enmity."

Robertson added, "I would say woe to any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course."

He noted that former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated.

Robertson said God's message is, "This land belongs to me. You'd better leave it alone."

Yep... being very overweight, approaching 80, and having been overweight for at least 20 years of hard running on the political circuit probably had nothing to do with it.. although when the first stroke hit a couple weeks back, it was evidently more of a warning than anyone thought.

I gotta say, it would be nice if Pat would come up against the actuarial tables wall himself. There will be other nuts to replace him, but at least he can spend a few years soiling himself in a supervised care facility to contemplate whether or not his debilitation is the result of old age, or God's willingness to strike down an egregious example of someone flaunting Christ's message in spite of extra training on the topic...

Yeah! Originally being from Virginia I remember something about Pat some of you may have forgot. As a child I was an official member of a TV show for kids sponsered by his church. I did not live in the Tidewater area but my relatives that lived there had signed me up. And the hosts of this show were two of his most trusted and promising staff.

JIM and TAMMY BAKER!!!!

They say the nut never falls far from the tree!

I just want to know what tree Pat fell from?

Oh! and let's not get started on Jerry Falwell!

They did loosen up the rules a little bit the girls skirts instead of not showing ankles can now show calf lol

I used to live 5 minutes from Liberty and been on that campus at least a thousand times. I have personally met Jerry myself (I won't get into that) and I will tell you from first hand experience that place is weird with a capital W. All these cooky rules you hear about they have you think are BS they aren't most of them are true.

You got 2 types of people who go there. First you got the folks who actually believe in the schools message which is nothing wrong with that and want to follow in what they believe in. Second you got the kids who don't believe in the message but mom and dad do. Mom and dad are paying so the kid loses and is forced to go to their version of hell.

I had 2 former co workers got expelled from LU because they lived off campus in an apartment and got turned in for having a party with beer one night. I have a current co worker who got put on probation for going to a rated R movie one night.

Why in the world I am thinking about moving back to Lynchburg is beyond me at times lol

May "Thomas Road Baptist Church" be with you in your time of need for direction!

If you miss Jerry, he usually "pops" into town at least once a week. Try Davidsons he previously bought suits from them. Almost weekly! :o

Did you know LU bought the old Ericcson building next door to campus and turned that into LCA and the new Thomas Road. All that vacant land off 460 are now dorms and a welcome center instead of where the church was going to be built.

"Pops" is quite the polite way to say that about him, most of those suits he can pop out of any minute :)

It was quite entertaining to hear him shuffle and stammer when it came out that the "moralist" preacher who was so swift to judge others' sins had sired his first child a bit before taking his wedding vows with the child's mother... This latest babble is just proof of the rot within getting closer to the surface.

Once again it just proves that "truth is stranger than fiction, because fiction has to make sense".

Convincing the reader to perform "Suspension of disbelief" is the key to any story. Sadly, Pat uses 8 oz. tensile-strength wire.
