For a good time try the Block E area downtown. There are all kinds of bars, places to eat, a brewery, shows, and sports events.
I've been here 31 years and still haven't found that much to do. We obviously have the Mall of America (including the occasional rumors of a CIP opening there someday), some pretty decent music at First Avenue, some decent nightlife locations downtown, the best hockey arena in the country, the worst baseball/football stadium in the country, some of the best fishing in the country, a surprising number of beautiful blonde scandanavian women, and a helluva lot of mind numbing cold weather.
