While being amused by the recent healthcare topics and posts, I decided to flip on CNN, and WHOAAA!!
It looks like IRAN has gone right ahead and started their nuclear program, and is stonewalling in talks with Europe.
Here's a country with REAL means to creating a nuclear bomb (verified THIS time) and a nutjob for a leader.
Are we ready for another call to arms??

As in, "No... we don't need another confrontation", or "No... it really isn't such a problem for me." ?

I know some boyscouts that could probably do a pretty good job on those peeps. And we can send the expendible bad kids from each troop.
or we can start cleaning up our cities by sending our criminals and create Australia part 2 - but without the paradise. That could be interesting.

Personally, I could see a big airstrike on their nuclear plant(s)
Nuke the nuke, so to speak.
Israel did something just like this on Iraq back in '81, I believe.
Not talking of trying to overthrow a leader, take over a country and rebuild it completely!

That would be just crazy!

Iran and North Korea worry much more than Iraq ever will.

I don't think the US unilaterally bombing another muslim country would help our long-term efforts towards peace in the Middle East...
It is interesting, however, that our actions in Iraq have set things up such that a new government may very well be Sunni led and heavily influenced by Iran.

Hmmmm...a lot of good that did!

I think our military would be more than capable to taking on Iran in a ground war without much problem.
However, if this ends up in a military confrontation,, it will be more of an air power and special ops. Of course, Iran could attempt a ground war by moving in on Iraq, but again air power would destroy them much like we did the Iraqi troops in the first Gulf War.
Just my $.02 .

How can the U.S. require countries in the middle east to abandon their nuclear programs, whenever we turn a blind eye to Isreal? The U.S has allowed Isreal to stockpile various nuclear warheads and Isreal only second to the U.S in Nuclear strength.. Why don't we make evereyone in the middle east abandon the programs?
Is everyone that is ready to go to war with Iran prepared to enlist and go and fight that war?

They did strike Iraq in '81 and were "very" successful; in more ways then we know. Iran knows this
all to well. Iran is nothing more than a sibling to North Korea. They both publicly state outlandish statements to attract attention. They are like screaming kids who have temper tantrums. The squeaky wheel gets the grease so to speak. Both Iran and North Korea know that they would get squashed like bugs if they ever got stupid. They are nothing but hollow threats. Its there way to get "concessions" from the United Nations.

Its all about balance. Where do you think Israel got the technical information about nukes? As long as Israel has nukes, it keeps the others from using them; much the same way as the USA and USSR never got into it. It was mutually assured destruction for both of them. As far as everyone in the Middle East abandoning them ( a great idea for the whole world!) the threat will always exsist regardless of what is publicly stated by countries.
