Congrats! Another girl in the year of the boy! 4 kids, huh? I'm pretty sure I'm done at 2!

1. I did the ring -on-a-string test (old wive's tale for fun) and it said I was having a boy...lol Which is what I feel anyway - why be different ??
(Les thinks I have ophicially lost my mind)
Ok, I did the ring on a string test too, but I have heard different ways to interpret it. One said if it goes clockwise, girl, counterclockwise, boy. One said if it goes side to side girl, in a circle, boy. So which did it do for you?

And I love that Billy Joel song, it's beautiful! at the crying in the store part. One of the ways I knew I was pregnant was when I bawled at the end of the Indy/Pitts playoff game. First, I could care less about either team, second, I could pretty much care less about football! I was like "that poor kicker! (he missed the field goal at the end)"

And I'm sitting here at work being poked in the ribs by this one! So I believe you on the movement! :D
well - on the Prgenancy Center/I researched wive's tales and it told me that (and that is what PA people believe) that if it goesside to side - boy In a circle - girl... So I am thinking this may not be the strongest theory!! LOL

yes -a nd since I had two children before - granted it was 11 years ago.... I think I can tell the difference between gas and the baby's movement!

Ok I am whispering here.... 'cause I do not need to be anywhere near this thread.....

however.... Meg....... If its any interest.... I have thought it would be a boy since I first saw your bump. Call it intuition.... a hunch.... I dunno... but it will be a boy. :wench:

Well mine went in a circle, so maybe it's a girl. I've been feeling girl all along, but it could be wishful thinking too. But they say a mother's intuition is right 70% of the time (which is more than the old wives' tales, that's for sure!)
Just for fun, what does the Chinese gender predictor tell you? http://www.thelaboroflove.com/chart/pred.html

Heck, pee in a jar of draino, and the color will tell you if you are having a boy or girl...

Just make sure to do it outside, it's quite stinky...

It's a girl! (Chinese Age 40 at Lunar month 3)
according to the chinese method.....
My first contradiction!

I forgot about the drano!!!!
I forget the colors - that was in the pregnancy center article on old wive's tales as well.

I will be happy either way but I would SO love to give Les a little boy!

We may have to change the words of "floridays" to "diaperdays"... Holy Cow there is a lot of procreation going on here at BN!!!!!!!!
The more Parrotheads that breed - the better!!!

I LOVE the "Diaper Days" idea, Mermaid!!
This immediately popped into my head:
Instead of "blue skies and ultraviolet rays"...
"red butts and little kids at play"

There sure are a lot of keets on the way!
I am officially having a repeat c-section, so you can put me down for September 26 as my arrival date. Crazy that I know this so far in advance, but somewhat comforting as well!

I loved knowing when my baby was coming. I didn't know with my first, but she was born the day after my due date. The Doc gave my cervix a little boost on my due date to move things along since I was as big as a house. She was 8lbs 4oz.

I was scheduled to be induced with my son, for the same "ginormous baby" reason. Had he gone the extra 5 days, he woulda been 9+ lbs and I simply wouldn't hear of that. He was 8lbs 2 oz at 5 days early. My midwife said I probably would have had him the day I had him anyway (Groundhog Day, how neat) because I was already having contractions before the Cytotec kicked in.

A few funny notes, I have the amnionic sac of steel. Both times, the doc had to break my water and poke it (hard) with a big stick. And second, both my kids were born in the same delivery room, 6.5 years apart.

Good luck with all your baby-ness!!!

BB, I'll remember to put that on the next BuffettNews trivia test:
Q: Which BN'er has an amniotic sack made of steel?
A: BuffettBride

Both of our sons were induced at full term after Mrs Play was put on bedrest. (She was coaching in a hot gym with the first one and she had a lot of stress with the second one). So far, things have gone better with this pregnancy.

The first induction went off without a hitch, but our youngest son didn't have surfactant in his lungs when he was born. It was a long 2 weeks in NICU and we didn't know if he was going to make it for a while. It was nice having a date to plan around, but we're not going to push our luck with nature this time. This baby will come when it's good and ready.

I'm not telling anyone they shouldn't schedule, I'm just sharing the experience we had. From what I understand, surfactant is the last thing that develops in the womb. Even so it is rare for a full-term baby to not have it, and they didn't know that was his problem for the first couple of days. One of the nurses noticed a grainy appearance in the lung X-Rays and that's when they diagnosed the problem. He went from an oxygen hood to a ventilator and they gave him a synthetic surfactant until his body could start making its own. Surfactant is a lubricant inside the air sacs that keeps them from sticking together when you breathe out. Without it his lungs were collapsing little by little every time he exhaled.

He's had some tough bouts with asthma and croupe and we have a nebulizer to help his breathing when it gets bad, but other than that he came through it really well.

I'm really not a big fan of induction myself b/c that's what they did with Kyle at 41 weeks and I pushed for 4 1/2 hours before they finally took him by C-section, only to find out he wasn't breathing, was blue, had no reflexes, etc. All he had going for him was a heart beat, according to one nurse. So I always wonder if it was because I was induced (they induced b/c I had a lot of swelling and my BP kept getting higher).
This time, I am not being induced per say, but having a repeat C-section. Again, I'm not a big fan of C-sections either and went back and forth about not having one, but my Dr. said that according to my operative report, it appears that Kyle couldn't fit into my pelvis, turned his head at the last minute and got stuck, resulting in the c-section and all the other trauma to Kyle. So I don't know what to think, I still wonder if it all would have been different had he come on his own. But he was a big boy at 41 weeks (8 lb 5 oz and 22 inches long), so I guess I wouldn't have wanted to wait much longer! And I was having contractions before the induction itself, so who knows, maybe he would have come that day anyways.

The due date depends on who you ask. The Doctor, going by cycles, has it at 12/03. Us, going by baby making activity, has it closer to 11/28
