My two cents...

If Alpine is doing concerts this year, and tailgating is allowed by the new management, Jimmy will be either there or Miller Park in Milwaukee. Why? Alpine is always a huge draw, we know he won't be playing Wrigley this year (part of last year's agreement was no concerts in '06), as a Cubs fan he won't play US Cellular (White Sox park), so if he's touring the Midwest there's nothing to keep him from doing a southern Wisconsin show this year.

That said, the supposedly "sacred" venues of Great Woods, Alpine and Irvine have all been skipped on tours in the last couple of years...whether there's a message that nothing's sacred (although I personally thought Wrigley was right up there  ), or he just wanted to play old ballparks...who knows? It's just that waiting game  ...and the natives are restless!! :o :D

Screw Alpine---Play Camp Randell----hold more drunks there, plus there may be some left over college broads lost and confused who need guiding.

I'm not being sarcastic, but, rather, as sincere as I know how when I say there is a 50-50 chance Jimmy may or may not play at Alpine this year.
To begin with, predicting his tour schedule is about as easy as predicting which guy Christina Augulera will sleep with tonight.
One would've thought Alpine would be one of the LAST places Jimmy would've not made a pilgramage to during the summer, but in 2005 he was an Alpine no-show. Rumors are the place is under new management, and either Jimmy isn't happy with them, or they're giving up the concert scenes there altogether.
Also, two years ago he failed to make an appearance at Great Woods, MA, thought by many to be the Mother Lode of his concert venues.(However, he DID do a HELL of a concert at Fenway Park in 2004, yet people still b|tched about no Great Woods).
Sorry to be so long-winded and vague, but, as with anything, the best way to find out is to simply "wait and see." I know it's not the answer you wanted, hell, it's not the answer I wanted, but remember, it's JIMMY BUFFETT we're talking about, and that's just how it is with him.

I, for one, would like to welcome you to B.N., hope you stop by here often, and hope you don't let a few certain smart-a$$ idiots get under your skin. Once you've been around here as long as I have, you almost look forward to their juvenille c.rap. Believe me, it'll remind you of just how far ahead of the academic curve you are. (And I'll be the first to tell you Cubbie Bear is really a great guy).
Once again, welcome, and look forward to "seeing" you.

Hmm, indecision may or may not be your problem!

I know a second year without Jimmy in Alpine would be a huge problem for me & my crew, and I'm actually hoping to do ALpine & Greatwoods the same year since I've never met anyone who has actually been to both and can compare the great Mecca's.

Welcome to the board, Nikki, and don't take too seriously anything the A$$bags after Cubbie post. Oh - and I'm not one of them. :D :D :D

Gee... all this deep analysis and it seemed pretty simple in my eyes. Last year he did a very light tour and hit a lot of ball parks and special events. I always figured that if he comes back with a full sched this year, he'll be back to Alpine and Tweeter.

Played Fenway, skipped Great Woods... Played Wrigley, skipped Alpine/Tweeter. Seems like a logical predictable pattern to me.

But who knows if the full tour comes back? He may have really enoyed playing hooky for 70% of last summer. The pirate's lookin' at 60 now. Hopefully it was just a one time deal.

If I recall correctly, the number of Midwest shows went from 8 in 2004 down to 4 or 5 in 2005. If he doesn't have a lot of other projects (e.g. Hoot) going this year hopefully he'll add back a few more stops. :D

I am actually from St. Louis,, my fiance' has family up North and we went to Alpine with them the summer of 04 and it was the best time. I couldn't believe all the people tailgaiting ,,, we had a blast. So needless to say I just want to go back there again. I have looked on the website for Alpine but thanks,, I just wondered if anyone had heard any rumors!!!

Thanks for all of your info..

I'm all for Camp Randall, but there are two big obstacles - no place to tailgate (a Wisconsin Tradition) and no beer is served there (another Wisconsin Tradition!). Plus, with the recent (read: VERY expensive) renovations made to the stadium, I'm not sure the University would be open to 80,000 parrotheads making it their tropical paradise for a day.

Rumor we are hearing (I live about 20 minutes from Alpine) is that they were considering developing the land. Seems that fell thru and management realized they made a mistake only having a few shows there in 2005. Here's hoping everyone gets back on the same page!

But, regardless, I have 20 people ready and waiting for tickets to go on sale and one is already checking on the mobile home... Have Jimmy, Will Travel!!

I'm a Badger, too. Camp Randall would be cool. What, bigger than Wrigley with 100,000 seats, and who knows, maybe almost as cool. And during my last visit to Madison a few years ago, our little reunion group managed to sneak in some Captain Morgan's to warm up during the game. Course, we had to behave; more than one had a kid enrolled who came to visit us when we hit State Street after the game. (In my day, we didn't even get to State Street; we'd go straight to the Kollege Keg — known as the KK in those days near the wedge......)

But can you imagine? Combining the good old college days with a visit to the island of margaritaville? Could I survive it?

That said, my parrothead friends in Northern Illinois do like Alpine, and if he skips Tinley Park (or maybe even if he doesn't), I'll consider Alpine..... (But hard to imagine anything better than Wrigley.)

I just wish 2006 would start in Florida in February— anywhere in Florida, ’cause that's where I'll be next month. (I had enough Madison winters.....)

For whoever posts about it, though, I do have relatives in Boise..... I'd vote for that, too.
