Interesting thread! First off, I learned a new term I'll use in my next book, "Sacred" Venues. I like that.

When I took off on my quest to see every Buffett Show of a concert tour season during the BHOTM Tour, one of my objectives was to compare all the venues. Coming from my "home venue" of Irvine, I was anxious to see the remainder of what I called the "Big Six" (Irvine, Greatwoods, Riverfront, Merriweather, Raleigh and Lakewood) and compare them to all the rest.

I was completely surprised and caught off guard when I got to Alpine Valley. In the fifty or so shows I went to in a row (including those berfore and after BHOTM), there had to have been more energy there then anywhere else I have ever seen Jimmy play. It completely blew me away.

If you ever get the chance to go to Alpine Valley, it's not Dallas...Don't pass it by.

CAMP RANDALL STADIUM - MADISON, WI

Post by CheeseHead in Paradise! »

I think Camp Randall Stadium would be an awesome venue! How great would it be to see 100,000 crazy Parrotheads converge in MADTOWN!!!

Pink Floyd and Phil Collins were awesome shows ....why not Jimmy Buffett?

Of course, I'm dreaming ...

It's always been and will always be ...ALPINE OR BUST!

OMG! You are quite possibly the only person I've ever come across capable of comparing & contrasting Greatwoods & Alpine without being a partisan of either! I hear so many people claim one or the other is the best (of course, we here all know Alpine rules) but since you're an Irvine disciple we need not worry about your bias. Still, 'tis my goal to do Greatland, Alpine, and Irvine in a single season - I envy your grand quest.

Looking forward to meeting you, and all my parrothead friends

Nice one Balding Fan, I almost felt like I was taking an exam and trying to choose what didn't belong. :o Anyways, Jimmy's still touring so I'm not getting greedy about when and where, I have never been one to turn down a road trip if necessary. If Alpine does something dumb like not host a Buffett concert this year {gasp!} maybe he can go back to his roots and play Summerfest?!?!?!

Camp Randall Stadium in Madison would be very cool. I've went to a Badger game last fall and the renovations they made there are unbelievable!

Of course, I'd prefer Alpine Valley since it's less than 15 minutes from my backdoor!

Did I hear someone say June 31st??? :D
