Sorry, Im Roman Catholic, and was always taught Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.
If you're a unconditional loving parent, I'm thinking you should love & accept your child no matter their sexual preference.
And that's the last faith you should be evoking to justify any of your conviction, Matt.

yes, he does. No matter how wrong or intolerant he is. Tho, If we are to tolerate his views, wouldn't it stand to reason that he should be a bit more tolerent of those views not his own as well?

C'mon, Gumby - I know you can be more original than that. You have no idea how many times I have heard the "Adam & Steve" thing being regurgitated by brainwashed senior citizens during the gay marriage debate. You can do better than that.
And, to clarify their position on the matter, the Catholic church is opposed to Adam & Steve...unless you're talking about Father Adam and Steve the Altar Boy.

Good point. I'll agree then to tolerate his opinion...

I have counseled many friends who have had that conversation with their parents. And what would you do if it was your son-would you disown them?
Actually I had this same exact converstaion with my parents--in reference to the movie, and their nephew( I dont really call him my cousin anymore, since I have said less then 10 words to him in the last 12 years).
Yes I probably would not talk to my son again because of it, because he should know that it is not something I condone.

Congratulations on getting that "Love thy neighbour as you love thyself" thing under control. Tolerance and forgiveness, and the primary concept, "God judges and forgives sins, not me" seems to be missing..

Kind of missing the whole point of it, isn't he???
Sometimes it doesn't matter what you condone...life just happens. What you can do is decide how you're going to react to it...with hate, or with love....

If one of my many "nephews" came to me and told me they were gay, I would have to cut them off too.
Same goes to if my daughter told me she was dating.. well I will not go there because I dont wanna hijack this thread and go into war again.

It's time (well it's actually PAST time
) to START talking about the movie again and stop talking about our stances on this particular issue, who's going to be a good/bad parent, etc.

This is 2006 now, racism was so 1950's!
When I was reading MLK Jr's I have a Dream speach on Monday, I thought, "Well, when the generation that lived with segregation is gone, racism should be gone because I don't think the younger generation will be like that. With hip hop being as popular as it is today and everything else" But when I read a post like A Balding Fans about what his daughter, I think that we will never get to where Dr King wanted to be.

Sorry Allison, I must make a comment on this.
Captain Joe, I do not know where you live, But Racism is still very alive where I live today.
Our area has been a certain way, and they wanna kepp it that way, and I do not blame them one bit. I have seen other areas that have changed, and everything went to hell. We need to preserve what we have, and we have in our area.
