advice needed on my keet's DUI . .
I got the dreaded phone call . . .and my keet is in jail for a DUI . .
I would only ask for anyone that has gone thru this . .or has background info . .to help me get ready for what might come . .
. .this is not meant as a " pity party " . .
right now. . .I just need some info . .
add to the list . . this is a repeat offense . . he is out of state . . in Seattle . . and they impounded his car . .

i'm sorry you are going thru this. I don't really have any advice. I love my keets to death. But this is the one offence i've told them repeatedly i would not help them or bail them out of. I definitely wouldn't do it a second time.
Possibly the only way I would consider it is on the condition that they sign themselves into a residential treatment center. But from other traffic offense experience I'd say you need a good lawyer. The more his local connection the better since you will want him to be able to work with the prosecutor.
I hope I don't upset you. I have keets who have done dumb things. It's a talk i've had with them alot. There are a few things that it would be better for them to take the fall for and learn the tough lesson.
all that said, since they're my kids i shouldn't say never. It's always a bad thing to say and I tend to be too soft on them.

and if OH is any indication, about $10k for said lawyer in fees, reinstatements and the like. Not including much higher insurance rates, and maybe specially-coloured license tags if he is lucky and can retain driving privileges to work and back.AlbatrossFlyer wrote:plain and simple, he's going to need a very good lawyer.....

For Washington State, on the 3rd DUI arrest, in King Co. (Seattle):balcony girls wrote:been there, done that . .AlbatrossFlyer wrote:plain and simple, he's going to need a very good lawyer.....

Two Prior DUI Offenses in the last 7 years and breath test .15% or higher or refusal to take breath test.
120 days in jail minimum, 1 year maximum, 150 days Electronic Home Detention
$2,778 total minimum, up to $5,000 fine
Four year license revocation
Driving and knowledge exams
SR-22 Insurance
Probationary license for 5 years
Up to 5 years monitored probation
Ignition interlock not less than 1 year if no previous interlock, 5 years if a previous interlock; 10 years if two previous interlocks
Alcohol evaluation and treatment as determined by the court (up to 2 years)
Probation monitoring (and fees) for up to 5 years
Fines do not include legal fees, cost of ignition interlock equipment, treatment, SR-22 Insurance (probably high risk, just an excuse to give the insurance company a huge amount of money because coverage is the bare minimum [at least in OH]).
It's not even close to "not good news".
