It would separate the real fans from the posers.
How do these songs bring out the "real fans" ?
Fall semester in a Southern college town has little to do with studying and more to do with football and fraternity rush. I didn't know much about the football team. Hell at that time I was really an Ole Miss fan and to this day I still cant figure out why I didn’t enroll at the U of Mississippi-JB

Why is that? I think Calypso would be THE quintessential cover for Jimmy and the Reefers. It would be amazing. I can't believe he hasn't covered it yet.

I really like the Warren Zevon cover Lawyers, Guns & Money!

Maybe a Don Henley tune... Boys of Summer

Coconut by Widespread Panic

Please, no more DMB!
I agree to wanting to hear JB cover Summer's Here by James Taylor or Last Island by Peter Mayer!

Mainly because John Denver sucks and doesn't warrant being mentioned in the same sentence as Jimmy Buffett. That's kinda like those that wish Buffett would cover Rupert Holme's atrocious "Pina Colada (The Escape Song)" or even worse, those actually think it's Buffett singing it.

I was being a smart a$$.

What I would like to see is at least one concert where all he does is his own songs. Drop all the covers and reach back into the catalog for some stuff we haven't heard in years, except when we pop the CDs in the player.

Just so long as it's Toots and the Maytals' reggae version.

Altered Boy wins over a DMB cover.. sorry Larry.

And even tho Lt. Hauk disagrees, Calypso would be a great song for Jimmy to cover, either accoustically or with the Reefers.

Dare I ask who this Lt. Hauk is that you keep referring to me as? Thanks, an explanation would be much appreciated.

I still hope it's a cold day in hell before Buffett covers a John Denver song.

Remember the references to "Good Morning, Viet Nam" and "Bruno Kirby"?
