I tried to post this in the other thread by a similar name, but
that thread TOTALLY DISAPPEARED
before I could click "submit"????
Sort of related post on the PHC Leaders Board:
Hey Guys, just a short note to tell you about a show our club and a
local radio station is doing. WWZE and The Finz of the New River in
Hillsville Va. will be hosting a Buffett & Beach Music show every
Friday afternoon during the drive time 2pm -5pm. We will be guest
DJ's and get to tell about our club and charities that we help. This
is preety big in the BLUEGRASS capital. If you are on I-77 around
Fancy Gap & Hillsville tune into 101.1 Z-Rock.

I hope the folks in Bland can pick it up. They need some excitement
in a town with a name like that.

That's because the person that started the thread requested that it be removed in the event that the subject matter turned into a debate. I'm guessing the old adage "if you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen" applies here. Kinda like me starting a thread that says the
Drive By Truckers Are Better Than Buffett and then requesting the mods to remove it if anyone posts any opposing viewpoints.

The way I see it, Jah, you were preaching to the choir. We understand that the choice of "bootleg" by the radio station was stupid...that point was conceded by everyone. Shan asked you to let it go, but you kept harping on it...when what you really should have done is call the radio station and take it up with them if it bothers you that much. WE get it, they don't.
Since the thread had already turned into a semantic debate and was completely off topic, Shan asked it to be removed rather than have it cause problems. It was her right to do so as the thread author.
Hope that helps.

I never said the use of the term "bootleg" was stupid but I did agree with the original poster that it was the wrong term to use. Notice that part? The part where I said I
agreed with them? What I think is silly is asking the mods to remove a thread if anyone comes along and says something you don't like. If you're scared of that why even post at all? I always thought one of the many purposes of messageboards was the opportunity to exchange ideas, differing and otherwise, with your fellow posters. Maybe we should all start putting similar disclaimers in our posts and see what a non stop funhouse BN would turn into then. NOT.

Stupid was my word choice. I also never said you didn't agree with them. They actually agreed with you, which at that point most folks would have let it go, since everyone was in agreement. We don't control the vocabulary radio stations use to promote their shows. Shan was just excited that a local radio station was playing Buffett, which is a rarity in many places. THAT is what the thread was supposed to be about...not semantics. You kept arguing a point that had already been conceded, which is why I said you were preaching to the choir.

What you see as "arguing" I see as agreeing. What I thought was funny was that sunseeker asked that the thread be removed if what they had to say was turned into a debate.

On
most messageboards, as many times as I like but then again, I believe this is the first time I've ever seen such a disclaimer requesting their post not be debated. Oops, I take that back. I have seen such a disclaimer, which also came from BN. It didn't work that time either but at least they didn't ask for an entire thread to be removed. If you don't want your thread being discussed in either a positive or negative light my best suggestion is to refrain from posting altogether.
