There's laid back and there's comatose. A lot of Jack's music that I've heard crosses the line and makes it to the comatose side.

How can you not dance to Flake, or Staple It Together? Ya, Jack Johnson's pretty mellow...but he also has some tunes that just make you happy and want to dance!!!

but that's my opinion. he just grew on me....

If only I had a few grand to blow on this: http://www.kokuafestival.com/

great excuse to go to Hawaii!

Took the words right out of my mouth. He and Dave Matthews should team up for one of those cruise ship dealys (if they haven't already) and call it The Snooze Cruise.

Before anyone percieves this to be Jack Johnson bashing I've actually heard some of his records and have seen him in concert so it's not like I don't have a well informed opinion. It's also not a slam against his fans so please don't take it that way. I came, I saw, I went to sleep.

I'm a soon-to-be 54 year old white guy from the suburbs. That's how I can not dance.

For the record, I've never seen him live but I do have 2 of his albums that friends burned for me, plus a bootleg of a live show. To say I was not impressed would be a major understatement. To each their own.

exactly. to each their own.

I didn't like Jack Johnson at first. I found it way too mellow...but ya know..I like all kinds of music and sometimes, I want mellow. I loved 'In Between Dreams' and his older stuff grew on me. Saw him live at Bonnaroo last year and it was my favorite of the weekend. Relaxed, mellow and fun, happy crowd. Not quite the same as Buffett, but I saw the similarities in the happiness I felt.

Just my opinion :)

I actually like the simplicity of the music itself, well maybe not the simplicity but more the small band sound without the big giant production.
I like "The Horizon Has Been Defeated" (thanks to Jimmy) and "Good People". His voice has been accused of being way too monotone and almost always the same, which I for the most part agree with.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one that doesn't care for him.
