We met on BN... it was April 6th of last year. It was a thread about parrotheads who wanna become teachers and we totally turned it into our own convo, then I said maybe I should just PM you and she said yes... so I PMed her and we wound up talking for over 2 hours. The rest is history, we talk all the time now and soon we will finally get to see each other and I've never been more excited about anything in my life.

well... It all began at a little 5000 watt radio station outside Fresno, CA in 1957. A young man named Ted Baxter...

Once, there was a very pretty, sweet redhead who picked up 2 tickets to the Orlando Hurricane Relief Concert for her boyfriend and herself. A week before the concert, said boyfriend decided to leave her holding the bag on the tickets. Given that he was on probation for previous incidents of stupidity, he became known as "To the Curb".

Across the country, a homely, balding, bearded, bespectacled, pudgy redhead obtained a single ticket to the same concert. During a whirlwind week before he left for MCO, he arranged a buddy-pass airline ticket, a place to crash, and a way to get to the concert.

Upon arriving in Orlando, and after an incredible odyssey exploring the area south of the BeeLine almost down to Disney before getting correct directions to Universal and M'ville, the party was winding down as he got to finally meet some of the BN board members. A good time was had by all, and a card was passed around with autographs collected for a member who was unable to attend.

The next day, after another odyssey exploring south Orlando and finally reaching the venue, the tailgating began. Our homely redhead was being a bit of a social butterfly (fortunately, the alcohol was blurring folks' vision so he wasn't quite so homely as to scare small children and senior citizens). Bouncing back and forth between the BNers gathered near the stage and listening to the Chillers play; the M'ville crew of the 'Floating Opera'; and various people in the lot who would flag him down and say, "My god.. you are homely", he wore out a pair of flipflops.

On one of those stops by the Floating Opera, the pretty redhead had arrived and was meeting the regulars. Being introduced, homely guy bebopped off to see something. In his wake, the pretty redhead began talking with the Biker Chick known as "Snake". * Homely guy was oblivious to this.

Another stop, and "Snake" asks the homely guy, "so, whatcha think about Candy?". The response, "I always brush after eating it", was met with a threat to drown him in the lake north of the venue. "You should talk with her", was met with "sure. I'll see." This was met with another threat of violence.

Homely guy began talking to the pretty redhead, and two months later, made a trip to Orlando for the first of many, many adventures (and Buca's fridge magnets).

Thank you Snake. You were right. She is pretty special.

*Snake earned her nickname because at one of the first M'ville Phlockings, she observed the party was getting dull. And she promptly picked up, and tossed a fully-dressed woman into the swimming pool. This would be the first of many dunkings. Given the lack of a pool, and the lake being to far to go for "baptism" at the concert, a litre bottle of water was dumped on the homely guy to initiate him into the club.

Once you get to know somebody that well over the phone, there is no room for "public meeting" like on dating sites and stuff like that...you pretty much DO know most about the person and I am sure the meeting with be successful...

Talking about everything and nothing on the phone with someone before meeting is such a great thing...there is no room for sex to get in the way of getting to know eachother, people tend to be over truthful than they would if they were face to face, and you never have to worry about when to kiss for the first time when talking on the phone....

After talking to Eric so much and knowing we were finally going to meet, I didn't have to worry about when we would kiss for the first time either....when he knocked on my door, I just opened the door, grabbed him, and gave him a big kiss.... It was really cool...especially since I would have NEVER done something like that in a situation of any other kind...

Yup we waited a looong time. We were friends first and then realized how much we enjoyed our conversations. We were both pretty hesitant at first, especially me, I didn't really have much trust in the male gender but we finally decided to just go for it.
