Exactly. I remember reading somewhere (don't know where or if the author was saying this sarcastically) that whenever A-Rod leaves a team, the next year or two that team will do better than with him. Look at what happened to Seattle and Texas when he left those teams. Those teams did better when he left (at that time --- now it doesn't matter).Wino you know wrote:I think you're EXACTLY right. (From a Yankee fan).aeroparrot wrote:That's true but A-Rod striking out with the bases loaded doesn't do well for his image that he chokes in clutch situations. I think the only reason why he chokes during that situation is that he is trying too hard to prove that he doesn't so it is sort of that self-fulfilling prophecies.Wino you know wrote:If the Yankees end up losing, it will be due to their middle relief. NOT an excuse, it's a FACT.
A-Rod can strike out all he friggin' wants to-if the game stays in the hands of the starting pitchers or Mariano Riviera, they'll have a chance.
But as soon as the middle relievers (namely Meyers and Farnsworth) come in, it's over. The rest of the bullpen (other than Riviera) is nothing to write home about either, but those two clowns are the WORST.
HELL, the CUBS didn't want Farnsworth-what does THAT tell you?
Everybody's noticed it. I think the REAL Yankee fans do want him to do well, but are getting pretty damn frustrated. All those home runs and big power numbers are nice, but it doesn't do much good to hit a home run when your team is 20 runs ahead or 20 runs behind. Before I get slammed for saying this because I am a Red Sox fan, all I am saying is that if Sports Illustrated (and I think the New York media) has noticed this then there may be something about it.
I guess we'll see by the end of the weekend.

If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!
I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

The White Sox won their division in 2005. The Astros, whom they played in the W.S., were the wild card team from the N.L.TommyBahama wrote:YOUR RIGHT ....I was thinking they were a wild card team last year!!RinglingRingling wrote:I believe the Sox last year were the only exception to the trend.TommyBahama wrote:Past history the last few years i believe...the wild card has gone to the WS!!!RinglingRingling wrote:curse of the Division leader 5 of the last 6 years..chippewa wrote:Twins gone in three games....so much for momentum![]()
There has been a wild card team in the W.S. five of the last six years:
Mets-'00
Angels & Giants-'02
Marlins-'03
Red Sox-'04
Astros-'05

I guess the Yankees are never going to get a break.
And Morgan and Miller are unbearable. Quite possibly the two most overbearing yet boring announcers in any sport. When they do a broadcasts, it becomes about them not the game itself.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

Morgan and Miller could give Tim McCarver a run for his money.jonesbeach10 wrote:I guess the Yankees are never going to get a break.

And yes, the Yankees are looking like the G.D. CUBS in this series.
It's definately time to break up this "team."

Isn't that the problem with the vast majority of announcers?Wino you know wrote:Morgan and Miller could give Tim McCarver a run for his money.jonesbeach10 wrote:I guess the Yankees are never going to get a break.

It's like the Yankees were batting against SANDY F'ING KOUFAX!
(For you younger bandwagon Yankee haters-Sandy Koufax pitched for the Dodgers in the 1950's and 1960's was one of the greatest pitchers, if not THE greatest pitcher in the game, and the youngest man to ever be elected to the hall of fame).
I'm not making this up-he was a great pitcher. Ask your parents or grandparents.

1963. 25 wins, 311 innings pitched, 1.88 E.R.A., 381 Strikeouts.
Game 1 of the World Series against the Yankees that year-he struck out 15.
The guy was a SUB-human.
AND HE ALWAYS THREW A COMPLETE GAME- He wasn't no candy-a$$ 5-inning pitcher like the majority of today's starters.

Get a break!
The Yankees have had plenty of breaks in the playoffs of the years.
