And Morgan and Miller are unbearable. Quite possibly the two most overbearing yet boring announcers in any sport. When they do a broadcasts, it becomes about them not the game itself.

Get a break! How about the 3B/LF umpire calling the ball foul when it clearly hit the line. That was an easy double for the Tigers.

The Yankees have had plenty of breaks in the playoffs of the years.

 Now this is a funny picture

Well, when you're a good team like the Yankees, or the 1980's Celtics, or the 1980's Lakes, or 1990's Bulls will always get the close calls.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

The thing that bugs me most about the YANKS as a fan, is that this isn't the team we got to the playoffs with. Hell, ask the Red Sox fans. This certainly isn't the team that swept them in the 5 game series. That team played playoff type "smallball" using guys like Cabrera, Phillips, Wilson, Cairo etc.. I understand that it's hard to bench guys like Sheffield and A-Rod, but we've seen over the past few years that you don't win by fielding an "All-Star" team. It's a bad all or nothing mentality and no smallball. You just can't win in the playoffs like that.

The YANKS were fun and very easy to root for during this season when they were playing with overachieving, role players. They got us to this position, and now we are right back to the same old, same old formula that hasn't worked.

The owners of teams have to learn to stay far enough away to allow their underlings to get the players that are needed. However, the owner does have the authority to give a budget to them. What you're saying is also the problem with the O's too.

Much like a heavyweight contender has to desicively beat the champ to get the decision in his favor. I've always felt when you're playing one of the "dynasty" teams, you've got to go at them aggressively and beat them soundly. Don't make it a game so close that one bad call or one freak play can cost you the game. Easier said than done though, there's a reason the opponent is a dominant team.

NY's season rides on the arm of Jaret Wright [smilie=think2.gif] I don't think there is a Yankee fan alive who thought they would be hearing that when the season started.

Yay Tigers! And I LOVE Ernie Harwell. The voice of my childhood :D We listend to him on the radio all the time!

The other announcers that were on last night were really annoying....it was all about the Yankees with them

THIS should be the Yankees starting lineup today:

SS-Derek Jeter
2B-Bobby Richardson
LF-Hank Bauer
CF-Bernie Williams
RF-Lou Pinella
1B-Chris Chambliss
3B-Graig Nettles
C-Yogi Berra
DH-Reggie Jackson/Lou Pinella
P-Whitey Ford
RP-Goose Gossage/Sparky Lyle

They'd have a chance then.

But IF the Tigers are going to win this thing, get it done today. I say this for TWO reasons:
1)I won't have to live through this B.S. for another day, and
2)I have to work tomorrow, and wouldn't be able to drink if the Tigers win it then. DO IT TODAY, and be merciful about this *&^%$# thing. .

I think if the Tigers are going to win, they're gonna have to win today. If not its back to NY and Wang going for the Yankees against a guy we just beat up.

Exactly. I had always said (a little exaggerated but still making the point) when you're playing a team like the Yankees, you have to be ahead 20 to 0 and you're still only going to win 20 to 19.

Well, that was an emphatic goodbye YANKS!!!

Here is my call...

Torre: Great manager and I love him, but the last few years he has been loyal to a fault with certain players and he refuses to play smallball. It's not a knock on him, it's just time to go in a new direction. BYE.

A-Rod: The less said, the better. I will drive him to the airport if it gets him out of town faster. BYE.

Bernie Williams: Another great Yankee that I'll always love, but it's time to retire. "It's over Johnny". BYE.

Sheffield: No need to pick up the option. Let him go and trim some fat. BYE.

Randy Johnson: I understand why they signed him. They needed a counter to Schilling and it didn't work. He got to NY and simultaneously "got old". I'm not sure how they can get rid of him(in fact I think barring retirement, they are stuck with him), but if at all possible....BYE.

Mussina: I'd sign him to a reasonable 2 year deal. If he wants 3 years or big money....BYE.

Let's go with younger, lower paid, role players and sprinkle the occasional bigtime guy in there. I appreciate Steinbrenner's willingness to shell out the $$, but it's time to go in a new direction. No more $20 Million guys.

I said it before and I'm sticking to it....the most fun I've had watching them the past few years was when they were winning with young, overachieving role players this year. Hell, these are the guys, with Jeter's leadership and Wang's pitching that got them to the postseason. More of that please.

Everyone please commence teeing off on them now. (Except you Red Sox fans...remember that you finished in 3rd place). :x

What is worse being a Red Sox fan and knowing your team was done in July........or a Yankee fan knowing you have a team of All-Stars who under performed....Except Jeter!!...and lost to a good Tiger team...but a team that was 19-31 in there last 50 games......and got swept by the Royals the last 3 games of the year!!

Please, someone, anyone..... Send the Yankees to the golf course! [smilie=intent.gif] [smilie=intent.gif]
It won't be the Tigers I'm sorry to say. They had difficulties beating them this year.
You never know..... 2004, after Game 3, ALCS.... Did anyone really think the Yankees would be the team going home? :o :D 8)
And some people didn't believe it was possible..... . 8) 8)

Here's my take:
Torre- we love him, but sometimes you're just too complacent. I know you like giving your veteran ballplayers their space, but you gotta show some emotion once in a while. It's been a great run, but I think it might be time to move on. I think Pinella might be a better manager for this team.

Posada- good for another year or two. Unlike most other yanks, he actually hit in the postseason

Giambi- didnt have a bad year, and i guess we're stuck with him for 2 more years

Phillips- not a bad player and might be worth to keep around as a defensive replacement

Cano- keeper

Jeter- keeper

A-Rod- trade him. There's gonna be a market for a guy with his stats. Get guys we can develop to replace our aging stars like Posada and Rivera

Matsui- not going anywhere

Melky Cabrera- keeper, there's going to be a spot for him

Damon- not going anywhere

Bernie - I think he's still got a little left in the tank as a 4th or 5th outfielder. He only missed a HR off Rodgers by inches in Game 3.

Abreu- gonna have to ride out the contract, but he's not a bad player.

Sheffield- goodbye and good riddance

Rotation- Wangs obviously a keeper, and we're stuck with Wright and Johnson, and I think if they're gonna spend big on anybody, it should be Zito. Unlike past pitchers they've acquired, he's a proven winner, hes still young, and he's durable

Bullpen- Rivera's got maybe 2-3 years left, and outside of maybe Proctor, everyone is fair game.

Anyone I didn't mention is fair game as well.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar
