If Buck Showalter could get hired by 3 different teams, I don't think Macha will have any problems getting another job.Tequila Revenge wrote:TommyBahama wrote:I was surprised........but apperantly he had a tough time with players that were hurt and not playing!!!....wasn't to liked by the players!!!....but he won!!LIPH wrote:Oakland fired Ken Macha today.
Interesting listening to Bay Area Sports radiom talking about Billy Ball, managers, etc. Macha shoud be furious the way this was handeled. How would you like to be Macha looking for a job as a manager and the press confrence report was YOU don't get along with the players? BUT HE WON!!
And now that we know it is true, I am officially ecstatic!Cubbie Bear wrote:Both Chicago papers & WGN-radio are all reporting a probable Tuesday press conference to announce Lou Piniella as the 48th manager of the Chicago Cubs.
WGN-reports that he was given a guarantee of increased payroll to $115M, or about $20M over last year and a four year deal. The later is interesting since hendry has only a two year deal. WGN is owned by the Tribune Company, which owns the Cubs so they should have pretty good sources

You should be! Lou has a much better track record with keeping pitchers healthy than Dusty did. Maybe Prior and Wood will actually pitch this year?iuparrothead wrote:And now that we know it is true, I am officially ecstatic!Cubbie Bear wrote:Both Chicago papers & WGN-radio are all reporting a probable Tuesday press conference to announce Lou Piniella as the 48th manager of the Chicago Cubs.
