I don't think I'd go that far, but I bet late August/early September is a good bet.

2002: August 25 or 27 (can't remember)
2004: Sept 4 (Labor Day Weekend)
Jones Beach 2002 was on Tuesday August 27. I just pulled out my stubs from 02. Camden June 27 in the pouring rain and 3 shows in a week Aug. 27 at Jones Beach and 29 & 31 at Great woods.
SGH --
2 years ago even though the weather was just about perfect, the beach never got as crowded as it usually does on weekends. If I remember, the remnants of one of the hurricanes churned up some nasty surf and they weren't allowing swimming in the ocean, or it was greatly restricted, so I think a lot of people stayed home.

Oh, one more thing for any first timers out there. If Jones Beach is a go there's no lawn section. It's all reserved seating in a 3 level amphitheater.
There was plenty of swimming in that little cove by the parking lot, it's quite refreshing to drink all day in the sun then go for a nice swim to cool off/sober up. The waves across the street were pretty big but they usually are.
That's because the cove is really Zach's Bay, an inlet of the Great South Bay which separates Long Island the island which Jones Beach is on. The waves across the street are ocean waves. :D

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

I was aware that was a bay I didn't know what you strange New Yorkers called it. I know that they are real ocean waves across the street. I didn't grow up in Minnesota.

I wonder....... if the rumour of Mohegan on June 29th is true, would that lead to Jones Beach on July 1? Just a guess.

I saw a 29th rumor.... but was it June 29th or August 29th? August could lead into Labor Day...

My friend with Corona just called me with two new Buffett dates:

Thurs. June 29 - Mohegan Sun (Tickets $251 & $176)

Sat. July 1 - Jones Beach (Pavillion Tickets $156)

Does that mean that Florida might get a Labor Day show :) Maybe Coral Sky?

If somebody said "pavilion" seats at Jones Beach are $156, I don't think the rumor is very accurate. There is no pavilion at Jones Beach, it's a 3 level amphitheater with no lawn. They never refer to any section as "pavilion", it's orchestra, stadium and mezzanine.
