Hi anita, Unfortunately I don't remember the street that The Farm House Table was on -but it wasn't too far from South Kensington where we stayed. The atmosphere was better than the food (which was so-so except for the tiramisu dessert which was very yummy) but it would be worth it to meet the great manager. He told me he's a British citizen but Greek Cypriot by birth. He also told me that he plays the same tape every night and I was the first American who had ever commented on Banana Republics - so we stateside parrotheads also have some work to do!

Well I'm off now, taking our daughter to the local Indian restaurant. No JB music there. Thanks for all you replies, loved feeling that i belong to a group of like minded people. One other thing, before i forget. The words to 5o'clock somewhere are different when he sings it with Alan Jackson's cousin, on the cd Live in Las Vegas. I think it's the chorus line, but i can't quite make out what they sing. Something like" football train". I'll sign in again either later tonight or tomorrow when you are all in bed. Thanks again,
Anita

Hi! I just wanted to let you know that we have other "UKers" who post here,
Captain Tony & Captains Wench, who were instrumental in forming the
Parrot Heads of the U. K. (PHUK) a few years ago. The couldn't keep enough
regular local members, so they aren't an "official" parrothead club right now,
but if you send them a PM (private message, not Prime Minister!) you may
find just the people you need to spend time with. :D

Also, there is a new poster, bilo, who is probably in your neighborhood. http://www.buffettnews.com/forum/viewto ... highlight=

Anita 1, welcome to BuffettNews!!!

We have other folks from the UK who have stopped by, and we have a regular from Australia (although she's currently vacationing in Vietnam  :D ). You'll find a lot of good information here, as well as a lot of nice people.

I've traveled through the UK many times and have loved it, although I've never been to Essex. I hope you'll be able to catch Jimmy for a show while you're in the US. Have you been to one of his concerts before? They really are great fun....and the exchange rate is surely in your favour these days!

Right so if the tickets go on sale at 10:00 am EST (New York), then it will go on sale 3:00 pm GMT.

I don't really think that Jimmy will play New York in November. It's usually too cold by that time to play an outdoor amphitheater, (aka Jones Beach, which is about 30 min-1 hour east of New York City depending on traffic). It would be more likely for him to play out West where it might be warmer. If he were to play the NYC area, it would probably be around the end of August, early September.

anita 1 wrote:Just found this site. We cannot buy Jimmy Buffett cd's or anything here, but thanks to the internet we can now obtain via this resource. Have followed him since 1977. We will be in Las Vegas beginning of April and then fly down to Clearwater, hopefully we will be able to catch his concert. However, how will we be able to get tickets from England. We presume the tickets sell out really quickly. In England when bands go on tour we are given about a years notice to be able to get tickets. Please reply soon to my first post . Thanks
First of all welcome! :D

There is no guarantee that Jimmy will be in Vegas in April yet, but keep watching the Tour Rumors page here: http://www.buffettnews.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=46 as well as margaritaville.com

Generally tickets go on sale soon after they are announced, mostly to keep scalpers at a minimum. When they are announced there should be a link to the website that sells tickets. However, Jimmy's tickets usually sell out VERY FAST! If they go on sale at 10:00 am, you better be trying to buy tickets at 9:59. Even waiting a half-hour will probably mean you are shut-out. Again welcome and good luck!
Hey JB10, I've never heard that theory before...how does a short timeline to ticket sales minimize scalping? Thanks.
