just a quick heads up.....50 Irvine coppers patrolling the venue last night...they moved motor home alley parking near the water park....if your are 21, look about 21 and have an open container or acting like a fool you and the boys in blue will undoubtedly have some face time... clearly they understand parrotheads and also understand partyheads and know the difference.

So my wife calls last night from Boston and we're chatting about the normal stuff and she slips in "oh by the way, I'm not going to be able to get home for the Buffett concert on Saturday".
I said "Well, it's been fun" and gave her my lawyers phone number.
So watch out - Huntington Beach Buffett virgin on the loose armed with Caribbean Blue jello shots, and looking to be adopted!

I imagine Margaritaville in Newport will be a zoo tonight, but what the hell, no pain, no gain.
Let the party begin!

your adoption is guarenteed with jello shooters, just about anywhere in the lot.

On the upside, since they moved the RV parking onto fairly good asphalt I will be bringing my long board skateboard...SWEEEEEEET !!!!!

I didnt see those but did see a guy in a hawaiian shirt doing a sobriety check on the way home last nite on the 405 :o

The cops I saw in the beginning of the nite were chilling with Leis around their necks and doing the FINS UP gesture to everyone walking by....I guess I only saw a handful though.......

Irvine FAQ

Post by SoCalMissMagic »

Let's see... questions my worrisome tailgate friends have been asking me as we make arrangements for tomorrow:

Q: Omigosh! They don't open the parking lot until 3!
A: As my fellow BNers have so eloquently put it before me, Rules are meant to be broken! (That's a quote from Harbourgirl... My sentiments exactly!!!) We will be arriving early waiting for them to wise up, open the gates and let us in!

Q: They say they'll be checking tickets at the gate! What do we do?
A: I'm so glad others have given us info and confirmed that they are not doing this when you arrive. They could try, but I don't know how they'd enforce it, since so many of us meet up with friends to pick up our tickets. Once the concert starts, they may check for those who haven't gone in though.

Q: The cops? Are they mean? Will they hassle us?
A: Thanks to all who have passed on info about this. I have always found the cops to be very friendly-- as long as you are being the fun-loving yet responsible, friendly, non-dangerous Parrotheads that I know you are. If someone is being a jerk and trying to start fights or something ridiculous like that-- well, then it's a good thing that the cops keep those people in check so that the rest of us can have a good time!
(See friendly cop picture below... I have always found them to be more amicable after they get lei'd!)

Note to RVer's....

My wife and I spent the night in the Irvine parking lot in our motorcoach. I was not about to move it after drinking. No one hassled us, even though the notice at entry in bold caps says "no camping".

We left at 7 am this morning and drove right out. We are going to stay Saturday night too!

I was actually shocked the lenient behavior all around there: No ticket checking, no PAYING for parking and no checks of bags...

They said no Cameras however I put mine in the zipper part of my purse and noone was the wiser

Thanks for the invitation. If I can get down there at a reasonable hour, I'll do so.

first, many people are getting tix at will call- so they cant check for tix for parking.
second, the company they hired for parking was such a bumbling pack of idiots, they wouldnt be capable of charging for parking. when we arrived they were literally fighting amongst themselves and screaming at each other. it was a circus; comical, yet unnerving.
parking was free and the police were all calm. i was there at 5pm and everything was just smooth sailing. only after the show did the younger "novices" get a little rowdy and stupid. oh, and because of those morons doing the parking event, i sat in my car in B8 for a full hour and moved only 7 feet- totally locked in. and they scheduled shutdown of the 405 at midnight and a huge flock of cars was trapped in narrowing lanes that dumped off on Jeffrey without any instructions on how to get back.

Scary about the freeway closure... Looks like we'll be hanging out in the parking lot for a while after the show!

Good thing our hotel is just up the street... No 405 for me!
