Phoenix?

Post by LIPH »

IF I go to a second show on the April leg of the tour, I'm trying to decide between Phoenix and the Thursday Irvine show. I know people on the left coast think tailgating at Irvine is the greatest thing since chocolate milk, but what about Phoenix? Who's been to that venue and what's it like?

I was there last year,as well as LadyParrothead and just missed Hiking on Tuesday.Had heard before going that it was fairly strict, but they opened early to accommadate and tailgating was decent! Beautiful weather and met some nice people but not very many BNers. Looks like I'll be going again :D They did frown on open flames in grills but usually just warned to keep under control. Hope to see you there. We met in Indy. And hey BOOZE IN THE BLENDER,I think you should go to both :)

AF's right. Nothing too special, but good times as always. There always seems to be some indecision by the venue's management (Cricket Pavillion), as to when the parking lot will be open for the tailgate :-? Last year we started off at the PHC party which was at a restaurant right down the street. Once it was confirmed that the lot was open, we loaded up and headed over. :D

i went last year and had a blast. met a lot of nice folks. security gave me some issues with my digital camera but i smuggled it in.

it was the first time to a show for some of my friends from flagstaff and it made a couple of their christmas letters. they loved it.

if they can make it, i'll be at the phoenix show. april is the best time to be at cricket. not too hot during the day and not too cold at night.

Not sure on the tailgating - the rules seem to change every year. Most PH's usually meet at Macayo's down the street and then walk over before the concert starts. But April is a good time to be here (at night).

i've never had a problem tailgating as long as things don't get out of control. security is usually pretty friendly but is known to frown on open containers so bring plastic cups. i've seen sand, pools, & barbecues.

in the past, gates were advertised as opening at 6PM, they usually relent and open somewhere between 5 and 6.

for the out of towners, take the west most exit off of I-10 (i think it's 83rd ave) it's a right then another right into the west parking lot. taking the east exit forces you to turn left across a main arterial street which really slows down the traffic flow into the east parking lot.

There is an Econo lodge about 15 minutes walk from the venue as well. If you want to hear the concert be sure to get pavilion seats as the lawn is notorious for having crappy sound.

Tail gate party Phoenix vs. Irvine

Post by NativeTongue »

I've done both multiple times, and honestly, the Phoenix party can be pretty weak. It seems to be improving as time goes by, tho.

(I say this as a Phoenix resident, too.. So when you start throwing stones, be gentle.) :D

I thought the tailgating was kinda dull - but then I was by myself with SOASOAPT so I had to make sure he didn't get into any trouble. However
the palm and I made it onto ParrotVision (my first time) so it will always hold a special place in my heart  :wench:

********Rumor Alert**************

I heard that since BEG had such success at smuggling in
contraband with the Cast and Wheelchair (as Nobody she was with last year was searched) that she
is gonna rent a Wheelchair and has a fake cast ready
for this go round.. find BEG and you can most likely get in whatever you
want in..

if this is true you might want to pitch in to help with the cost.
:) :) :)

I forgot which show she is going to so I'm posting this
in all the Whos going to threads..

I love you Kathy.. :D
