I'll be there on March 23rd from 3:00pm to 10:00pm. I've been once before, but it was early morning to early afternoon. While there, I went inside the gift shop at Margaritaville, got engaged on the top of the Crowne Plaza La Concha, walked by Mail Boat studios, and went on the Conch Train tour. What did I miss that I can hit up this time? I know that I missed the sunset and the activities on Mallory Square. This will definatley and unfortunately not be a drinking-friendly trip because of who I will be with. What are my best options?

How ya doin' my Tennessee brotha? Well, you need to go to B.O.'s Fishwagon for a fish sandwich. And definitely go to Mallory Square for the sunset activities.....that 'silver' guy and 'cat' guy is worth the trip!!! Hemingway's house is kinda neat! The whole island is so cool. :D

Hello fellow Tennesseans - I, too, am going to Key West for a brief trip!! Yea for me!!! :D

I'm going to Miami for a conference in May, and think I'll take an extra day, get a car & drive to Key West. My son may fly in from ATL & drive down with me. We'll get there late afternoon or early evening, spend the night, and come back the next afternoon. It will be Memorial Day weekend. Think I'll have a problem getting a place to stay? :o

Any suggestions?

plenty of things to do. Even if you don't drink, I'd recommend grabbing a snack at Irish Kevin's and listening to the entertainment, good stuff.

Any of the museums are interesting, if you like history (Key West's history or history in general). There's always Hemingway's place or the Truman House (Truman's is the one place I didn't make it into). The aquarium was neat if you're into fish, sharks, etc.

I think pat croce's Pirate Museum should now be open. I know the hurricanes pushed them back, but I'm thinking it was to the end of january/early February.

No idea if it's any good though - but it could be fun.

Been there....it's all right. Keep in mind, it was made to be a tourist attraction, so that's what it is.

What is he just now opening then?

I was listening to an interview either right before or right after MOTM and he was saying the grand opening in KW was delayed due to the hurricanes; that it was originally supposed to be open by NY but was going to be a month or so late now ... Restaurant there? Expansion? We never make it past the bars, really.

Louies Backyard for supper.

Yes, the Afterdeck is the popular watering hole, but the inside dining room is 'fine dining'. Dress accordingly.

You get the best of both worlds: fine dining and you can peek at the famous deck too.

Croce's newest joint is called The Rum Barrell... it's on the corner of Front and Simonton - right next door to the Pirate Soul Museum... suppose to be some good food.. their going for a "swanky" atmosphere but it IS actually casual, so no worries on dress... and as long as you follow the shirt and shoes rule then your welcome in ANY establishment on the island..

If you want more info on The Rum Barrell, just ask.. a server at work with at Margaritaville also serves there during the evenings and another server I work with just got a solo acoustic gig playing there in a few weeks... the nightly entertainment takes place on the the deck of the second story... and YES, it did just open... about 3 weeks ago if I'm not mistaken!
