Joe Satriani
Just got 3, 3rd row tix for the Joe Satriani/Eric Johnson show here in Greensburg. I'm taking my 14 yr old daughter and her friend. Anyone ever see either of them live? Just curious about what type of show to expect.

I saw Satriani about 12 years ago. Great show, if you appreciate guitar work. It was a fully instramental show, so I just closed my eyes, let the music take over and my mind wandered with it.Reefdiver wrote:Just got 3, 3rd row tix for the Joe Satriani/Eric Johnson show here in Greensburg. I seem to be the only one here that knows about the tremendous musical resource called AllMusic.com but if all else fails, look 'em up here:springparrot wrote:I'm sorry, but I'm old...Reefdiver wrote:Just got 3, 3rd row tix for the Joe Satriani/Eric Johnson show here in Greensburg. The Sat man & Eric Johnson.......you're in for a real treat!!!!
Depending upon the show, I can partly agree with the poster who said Satriani can be like a long Van Halen solo.......but if you're gonna mimmick somebodies excellent guitar work it might as well be Eddie's.
Regarding Johnson, this man is AWESOME! Being so close to the stage you will be amazed watching his playing as much as you will by the music being played by him. When I saw him he mixed up the monster rock jam stuff with intricate jazz influenced axemanship (is that really a word?) fantastically. With EJ, don't plan on a fist-pumping rock show, sit back and soak up his true genius of his sometimes fast, sometimes mellow and always intricate guitar work. All in all, it was one of the best shows I've ever seen!!

I know that Satriani is a fantastic guitar player, but the real reason I agreed to go was because of Eric Johnson. All 3 of us play guitar (the 2 14 yr olds idolize Satriani) and we're all hoping that a little of both of them will rub off on us.
Thats why I sprung for the higher $ tickets... I want to WATCH them both as much as I want to listen. I hope my 40ish year old ears will still work after the show.

Thanks springparrot...that's my keet and I, and picture was actually taken in her friend's garage. Her friend's dad is good friends with Doyle and they invited us over the night before the concert here in Pittsburgh last year. Was pretty cool getting to just hang out with him at a family cookoutHi SC
Love the pic, but was in taken in a clothes closet?

The information isn't always entirely accurate but considering the amount of ever changing info they have to deal with on a daily basis, I think they do a pretty good job.jbfinscj wrote:You are not alone on that site Jahfin.....I have been using it for yearsJahfin wrote:I seem to be the only one here that knows about the tremendous musical resource called AllMusic.com but if all else fails, look 'em up here:springparrot wrote:I'm sorry, but I'm old...Reefdiver wrote:Just got 3, 3rd row tix for the Joe Satriani/Eric Johnson show here in Greensburg.
