I dont either.... however it is 2006.... and everybody has a hand out... the band, the crew, the venue, the promoter.... it just seems to me $36-$126 is not a bad range considering the economy we live in......

Doesnt mean that I like it!!!
The band ad the crew, sure. I don't think he really needs a concert promoter at this stage... That cuts one hand off right at the elbow.
well the venue has to be paid...and his manager... does he have one of those?
I would think by now, he has enough skill at bookings that he could be his own manager (another cash stream for JBI, but unnecessary/unwanted expense from a fan's point of view)

Since I have been on borrowed time since 1997, I think I should get a freebie. :D

Maybe he doesn't need a promoter, but the venue might use one. Jones Beach uses one promoter to book all the shows, I'm sure other venues do the same thing.

Just thinking he could concentrate the revenue streams thru the whole "vertical integration of product" concept. :D

These prices, it is more like "vertical insertion"...
Las Vegas this year should be really cheap...

supply and demand

JB supplies it, we demand it
that is if we're willing to pay the price, and I agree with ToplessRide, I'll gladly pay whatever it takes to be a part of every tour he has left in him (and I hope there will be several more :) )

And I'm sure Jimmy has the knowledge and ability to serve as his own promoter/manager, but at this point why would he want the hassle? I'm not in the music business but I would think that the role of promoter/manager for a full blown top shelf concert tour requires a huge amount of relatively thankless work, nearly constant pains in the a$$ and job duties that get a little shady sometimes. Just can't see him signing up for that when he has trusted people around him that he can more than afford to pay for their expertise.
you can't lay on the beach and drink rum all day if you don't start in the morning 8)

We'll continue to go, in spite of the high prices. Love it too much to stop.

One footnote. Once the price gets that high, you expect good seats. Last year we paid about $150 to see Jimmy at Mohegan Sun. The seats were awful. On the side, up high where the acoustics were so bad that you couldn't understand what he was saying when he talked. Everyone around us were complaining as well.

In my opinion, the venues should discount the seats with obstructed views, poor sound, etc, especially when the price gets this high.

Couldnt't agree more!
This is the whole point. Yes, I too will continue to pay the price to be able to see Jimmy. It's just that the price thing would be more digestible if those of us who are long-time, year round Buffett fans had a decent shot at getting the better seats. Every year I get sick and tired of seeing people sitting in the better VIP/ Corporate Seats, and I know damn well they are there cause a parent at a big company here (or a symphony patron: our venue is owned by the symphony) gave them the tickets.

It's going to sell out anyway, why can't JB tell the promoter to allow his Fan Club(s) a certain few days of 'presale' over the internet. A lot of performers reward their faithful that way.
If we weren't all crazy, we would go insane.

of course... I think there are more faithful than seats!! But at least it would take it out of the scalpers hands....

What's the cutoff for long-time fans? 10 years, 15 years? Who gets to decide and how does anyone prove they're "long-time" fans? Maybe we should have to take a Buffett IQ test before we're allowed to buy tickets.

If he started doing that, how are you going to prevent people from joining the fan club just to get an opportunity to buy tickets during the presale? I'm sure with all the contacts scalpers have they know about presales before the general public finds out about them.

ok.. one solution:

take the pool of tickets reserved for the PHCs in the area and enlarge it. Granted, it doesn't address all the issues, but it would certainly reward the fans who follow the "Party with a Purpose" ethos.

Even Dallas is charging $126.

Well, his kids are going to College and those tuition bills are going to be very expensive. I don't think charging $126 a ticket will cover it. Do you???
