Jane, which Best Western are you staying at and what bus trip are you on? Is CRC going?
Hi!
We are at the Janesville Best Western. Heard they were sold out there. Look for Fins Up North postings on the first few pages. She gives hotels in the area and info on the bus. We got the gold package on Volcano Express (volcanoexpress.com) There's a form you can fill out for the bus ride. Be sure and write "Buffett News" in large print on the form so we can all be together. CRC is going........[/qu

I just called the BW and requested that im at least 3 rooms down from you nuts :P
Whazzamadda? You no like de nuts?
What's your room number? I'll be sure and set off those black cats I was saving from July 4th.......

Tiki's too proud to ask, but I'm not.

Any spare tickets for Tiki?

It's just not fair to leave her home alone :( :( :(
I may. I'm only going if friends of mine from Minneapolis are going and I have no idea if they got tickets. We're going to Florida the next day and I won't mind missing Alpine.
Sure, now that I posted I was going and IUP posted she's not attending.........
Exactly - if it was the other way around, I'd be there for sure :D

Hotels in the East Troy area are sold out when the concert dates are announced. Even before they are confirmed dates. It is crazy. If you find rooms you are darn lucky!!!! I booked my rooms the day the rumor came out on the date of the concert!!!! And the rooms I booked were in ILL just south of the border. We are from Green Bay area.

Got nearly shut out, too.

I'm not normally one to blame Ticketmaster (since everyone is dealing with the same problems), but in this case I have to.

Reasons TM screwed nearly everyone at our location:

1) They hand out the lottery tickets at 9:30 as announced. I would think that at that point, they would draw the winning number. But they waited 10 minutes, and when they came back out, there were more people. They handed out tickets to them, too, and guess who won the lottery? The people who were late.

2) They have always had a policy that first days of major shows with lines are CASH ONLY. Not today. The credit card machine is on the same computer with the ticket terminal. So if anyone was paying with credit card, they slowed the line down. Yes, the first 4 people in line ALL used credit cards.

3) Logically, they would find out how many tickets each the first, say, 10 people in line need, process them all as fast as possible, THEN worry about payment. The credit card thing made this impossible.

4) The winning person for the lottery had a friend hanging out in line with her. They sold 6 tickets to the winner, AND 6 tickets to the friend!!!! The friend basically skipped about 20 people in line.

5) The 107-year-old lady that was running the TM location had problems pushing the keys on the keyboard hard enough. Her younger assistant just kept standing there repeating, "it's not our fault".

The results?
The first person in line got her 6 tickets at 10:04!!!!! IT TOOK THAT LONG!!!
The second person (who shouldn't have been there) got hers at 10:07!!! By the time person #3 got up there, Pavilion was long gone. By the 5th person, it was already 10:11, and only singles were coming up.

Me? I was the last person to get anything. We were trying (with multiple people in line) to buy 12. I got ONE obstructed view ticket, and I waited 10 minutes extra while she kept hitting the refresh key.

I think I can safely blame TM this time....

I learned two things at Alpine:

1) don't walk the lot with CRC and IUP, or at least drink water only while you do, and
2) if you're taking a new medication, find out if it plays well with alcohol BEFORE you take it just ahead of a tailgate..... :-? :-? :-?

Man!!!!!!!!!! What horrible planning. Let me guess, you were at an upscale dept. store counter where they also gift-wrap wedding shower gifts???!!! Here they've got it down where they have everyone write on an envelope what they want when they line 'em up. That way when the bell rings all they are doing is pulling tickets and piling them up. Someone else down the counter then starts settling up with folks so payment of any type doesn't hinder the person pulling tickets. Seems simple, but I guess not. :x :x :x

It was a Boston Store...not sure if I'd call it "upscale", but otherwise, you're right on.

Seems simple to you and me, but not to Midge behind the counter...

just as a refresh:

Candy and I are going to try to make the run, get in on Friday evening for the Meeting of the Mindless? TM at the Alpine Resort so she can meet the M'ville crew. We'll be in the lot tailgating (according to the plan) on Saturday, and then calling it a day and bailing during the concert.

We got Sec 201, Row BB, Seats 93,95. :D :D - on opposite sides. I got in right at 10, and waited 4 minutes - it was a very long 4 minutes!

Looking at the seats a little more closely now, they look like they're less than 30 rows back, in the middle of the section. Not too bad!
