GreatWoods Virgins seeking experienced perspectives

Posted: April 21, 2006 2:59 am

OK, we are long time Alpine regulars, Tinley Park, Cinci, & Indy veterans. Seen Jimmy in Vegas & at CBIP grand openings. We been dere, done dat. We know few if any venues hold a candle to Alpine, but this year we are doing GW for the first time.

Starting to believe that the much vaunted Greatwoods is just a watered down, old-folks poseur that aspires to be a third as wild as East Troy, Wisconsin, where repressed midwesterners really let their ...hair... hang out.

Would anyone from the East care to differ? What makes a GW Buffett show the best in the world? Anyone with actual GW and Alpine experience want to compare & contrast?

If that doesn't provoke some spirited story telling then I know GW will be a huge yawn!

I'll this one. I've definitely been to shows all over. Different parking lots have their own personality, if you will. That being said, it's hard to say that one is better than the other because they're all distinctly different. I have been to Alpine, and that is definitely quite a great party. I will not disagree with you there. GW, though, is one party that's hard to explain until you really see it. It's really what you make of it. If you're out there trying to have the best time you possibly can, you'll have a blast and see that us New Englanders are a little bit crazy, if not insane, when it comes to Bubba being in town. If you're there trying to say a certain venue is better, what fun is that? Whenever I go to a new venue, I'm not trying to compare it to GW. I'm there having a great time and thankful that I have the opportunity to travel to see Bubba.

That being said, GW definitely gives Alpine a run for its money - no questions about that.... 8) 8)

Well said! Just go and enjoy the experience. We don't need to turn it into a p*** contest about which venue is best!!!

here, here, habour girl!

my only clarification would be that it's the parking lot that makes it stand out, not the show. this goes for all venues.
let's face it, the song list from the concerts don't vary too much. what makes the concert different is what mood bubba & the reefers are in.

the parking lot makes all the difference. we all go for that pre-party experience.

see ya there!!!

I've only been to a couple of different venues besides GW, but I can't imagine anyplace being much better; maybe just as good; but not better.

Does Alpine have hot tubs? Naked water slides? Exploding gas grills? (just to name a few)

There are inordinate amounts of outdoor whoopee at GW! Lots of horizontal hula-ing goin' on. 8)

Ahhh the naked water slide :D

I was lucky enough to be parked directly behind this one year. Had the best view in the house (except the slide itself of course).

That was a great year :D :D

I was lucky enough that the cops shut it down before I actually used it! I find it hard to refuse a dare when I'm that drunk.

But you are right - that was a great year indeed! :wench:
