Only 2 weeks away!
Nissan's website - http://www.livenation.com/event/getEvent/eventId/217970
says the lots open at 3:00. They normally say that, but ALSO say the VIP lot (where you pay $20) opens at NOON. They've always opened at noon, and better still do so this year! Any one know what's up?

VIP Parking is just code for them charging you $20 to get in early, i.e. before they allow free parking. It's been like that for several years. I love it. No waiting around on dirt and gravel roads and parking lots like at Starlake until the sheer numbers of cars make opening the lot absolutely necessary. You'll be close to the gates but one of the last to get out. Again, no big deal to us.
It does tick me off that the Friday before Buffett we can take bottled water in when we see Kenny Chesney but you can't for Buffett. You know it's going to be hot as blazes and yet they FORCE you to buy their water. I think the first time somebody gets really sick with heatstroke they will revisit that policy.

MDShark:
I know that's how it is at Nissan.....my original post wasn't too clear.
What I meant was as of now there is no mention of the lots opening at noon on their website. They only have 3:00 listed. I am waiting (hoping) for them to change the website and add in about their "VIP" lot. I plan on being there at noon like always, Nissan better not let us down!

I was hoping to use the VIP lot as a way to get out early.

the only two ways I know of to get out early would be to either leave the show early (not doing that) or park near the gates (show up late). Neither option seems appealing so we'll just hang back and wait it out. I've heard that VIP isn't so great except that you're there earlier and can start sweating before the crowds arrive!bravedave wrote:The VIP lot is the last to get out?MDShark70 wrote:VIP Parking is just code for them charging you $20 to get in early, i.e. before they allow free parking. Hey green1 - where in Manassas? Is it the Cruise America Motorhome Rental & Sales? What is the general ballpark price? As always, when we get closer to the show, my friends and I discuss getting an RV. We've had this discussion for the last 10 years or so but never have been able to pull it together. It may be too late anyway but it's worth a shot. Thanks.green1 wrote:We get ours out in Manassas a day or so before te show. Never had a problem getting out. Lostarlake,
If you click on the link you posted, there is an additional link there for more information. Click on it and you'll see the info on the pay lot opening at noon. I've seen it open as early as 10:30, so I wouldn't sweat it.

I do not know the exact times, but there are 3 different parking clasifications.
1) VIP parking is in the back...mostly for season ticket holders. I used to have those when my company had season tickets. Opens early...kind of easy to get out, they let you use one of the three lanes(exclusively) until you get right to the last gate, then it is a free for all.
2) Premier parking... near the front. Get in early....extremely hard to get out. Start early, stay late, and have a DD if posible.
3)General parking.....no rhyme or reason to the madness. As you go to park, they just point you(herd you) as they see fit. If you are lucky enough to get near the front...you have a better chance to get out earlier.
Hope this helps.

camping around Nissan
Last year we camped about a mile away at Mt View Lake campground. Now I hear they're closed. Anybody else coming in for the show camping in the area? Not really crazy about pulling rig all the way after show.

It was Cruise America. I think the cost last year was about $400 - $500. Not sure though. It was reasonable when we got a bunch of people in on it. They were easy to work with on the pick up and drop off too. Turns out we won't be getting one this year. Our group arrival times are going to be sporadic. So it doesn't make sense for us. Good luck.Hockey Mon wrote:Hey green1 - where in Manassas? Is it the Cruise America Motorhome Rental & Sales? What is the general ballpark price? Here's a link to the Nissan website. Premier parking for $20 does open at noon.

First off, aboslutely go.PH Pond wrote:Interested in your thoughts... My husband and I haven't been able to get tickets to the concert but are thinking about tailgating the day of the show (fun, in and of itself) and trying to buy some tickets there. Any suggestions?
The concert is great, but the tailgate is just as much fun.
Secondly, and to me, more importantly your chances of getting tickets that day are good. Sometimes the box office has last minute cancellations. So, that day walk up to the box office and ask. Also there are always people trying to get rid of extra tickets before the concert in the parking lot.
I know you are taking a risk, but with risk comes reward. And who knows, you could end up front row center, or last row on the right. But you will at least have been to the parking lot and go to hang out with friends for a while.

Yeah, and the site also says "No Alcohol" in the lots. Heheh.Clintster7 wrote:No BBQ grills according to nissan site. Im sure that will fly
Actually, in years past we've seen people with large gas or charcoal grills get turned away at the gate. We've brought small "habachi" type grills in the past with no problem. The cops have also never had an issue with alcohol, but it's always a better idea to bring plastic cups if you are going to walk around.
