You know you are a parrothead if you wear a hawaiian shirt to the reception.
You know you are at a parrothead wedding reception if the bride and groom, and the majority of the party are in Hawaiian shirts. :)

Alright, I'm excited, but its crunch time now for planning.

First off, we need a place to stay!!! I've checked every hotel mentioned in the 44 pages of this thread and they are all booked! Any ideas? We're going to be staying through Saturday to catch some Reds games so we need something in the area around the baseball stadium and Riverbend.

Second, we've got to figure out what to do before the show. We're going to be driving up from Knoxville Thursday morning, so we'll get into Cinci around noon. Will there be plenty of parking available around Riverbend? Okay, I have no idea how this whole tailgate thing works. PLEASE HELP! I'm not a Buffett show virgin, but I might as well be. The only other one was when I was 16 and the concert was in February. Do we bring our own booze and just hang out at our own car? I would love to go around and meet some of you guys, but I don't want to intrude or anything. If somebody offers you a drink, do you pay them for it or what? Would it be better to tailgate in the parking lot or go the the Beganniversary? My brother and his friend, both 20 years old will be with me. Does anybody check IDs at the Beganniversary, concert, or parking lot?

We've got lawn seats. Is there anything we should know? Should we bring a poncho or a seat or anything? How will all of that work?

How is the best way to meet up with BNers? Are you guys wearing your name tags this year?

PLEASE HELP! I know these are alot of questions, but I'm new to all of this. Please offer ANY suggestions you may have. Thanks and I'll see ya there!

Comfort Inn (859) 291-6700 in Newport, Ky is on the river, Riverboat Row you can walk across the Purple People bridge to the game. And the hotel is about 15 minutes from Riverbend. Also near Newport on the Levee a very fun place, full of stuff to do. JB Fins, Hooters and the Beer Sellar are right down the street. You may want to ask if they have shuttle to the concert, they did that a couple years ago.

If you are watching your pennies, there is a Travelodge in Newport that is fairly cheap at 222 York Street.
(800) 578-7878

This should get your started. Good luck

BOBROBERTS: The parking lots across the street from Riverbend/Coney Island are good.

We will probably all be wearing our Buffettnews tags, I did last year and BN'rs found me because they saw it.

Everybody gives away their drinks, because they know that their concoctions are fantastic, and they like us to know it! But bring plenty of your own.

I never saw anybody get 'carded', neither did I see any bike cops....those lots are private property. That's not to say they were'nt there, I was just too busy schmoozin' to see them. They DO card you at the concert venue.

Go to the Beganniversary across the street at Moonlite Gardens. The Cincinnati Parrothead club sponsors this and it's great. Food and GREAT music included in the price. It starts at noon. And you can come and go from there to the parking lots.

People set up around their cars. Some have tiki bars, some have tents and cook food. Some just open all their car doors and set out a cooler and chairs and chill. Some play games, bring pools. I wandered around the two grass parking lots, looking at all the people and their decorations, etc. ONE guy (Defimoff1) brings a huge RV and sets out sand and a limbo setup. A lot of people go to great trouble (and expense, I think) to set up at a tailgate.

As for the lawn, I've never been on the lawn but I've heard everybody kinda scrunches up together, you may try to stake out your area but you lose it. If it rains, a poncho is a very GOOD idea!!! :P

Do you have a BN tag and lanyard? Wear it so we can recognize you! Are you gonna wear a Tennessee hat? GOOD! GO VOLS!

Alright, I got my hotel booked. I was able to get a room at half price with the Government discount because I'm a teacher. We're staying at the Marriott RiverCenter in Covington, KY. It is next to the blue suspension bridge and looks very nice. I got a room for $80 a night! We also got our tickets to Friday and Saturday's games at Great American Ballpark. Now just to figure out what else to do, where to eat, etc.
