Shoreline (Mt. View CA) Pre-concert party blues

Post by TropicalTroubador »

Hiya,

Potentially bad news, for those of us who were hoping for a pre-concert party at the Sports Page Bar. They haven't had their entertainment license renewed for this year - some sort of zoning, building dept. issues. So no music, or anything even *resembling* music.

Here's the most recent article I could find on the subject:

http://www.mv-voice.com/story.php?story_id=969

Our local PHC is looking at alternate venues, but it'd be a shame to have to move the party. Stay tuned.

If there's anyone who'd like to *politely* discuss this with the City of Mt. View - let them know how much revenue we Parrotheads bring to town, let them know that we'd probably be doing something to raise money for charity...perhaps all our voices together will accomplish something. Or not.

If we plan a party somewhere else nearby...will you come?

Either way, we'll come up with something.

Party on,

Loren

Well that blows :-?

Although after reading the article they can't have bands and the like so we could still hang out.

Is the patio still open?

Is the patio still open?
Apparently...though they had a fire a while back, so the outdoor bar is no longer there.

i have been in that area recently, and while the gate to the back was open, it was too early in the afternoon, for them to have many customers. not knowing about the fire, i did not really look the place over. years ago shoreline had a huge parking lot, the the city of mountain view wanted to build a hotel on. i don't think anything has been done with the land. could that be an option for a ph get together?

I may be able to swing by there in the next week or so to scout it out.

What's the word on the Mountian View Mounties and how they treat tailgaters?

I was in the back patio last fall ...... can't remember the exact date, but everything looked the same. The bar in the patio was still in business. Not having a band there is a non-issue to me ... the place always rocks with piped-in stuff, and Parrot Heads create a lot of noise on their own anyway.

So I swung by The Sports Page today and talked to the bartender (didn't drink, I SWEAR!).

He said that the patio is open and on concert day they will be going "full bore." It was raining pretty heavy so I didn't check out the patio myself but it looks like this is still a good option for the "tailgate."

I paid the extra $20 and got the premium parking. Anyone know from past concerts what the parking lot scene will be and how strict the Mountain View cops are? Where is this premium lot anyway? Anyone know when it opens?

premium parking just means that you get to park closer to the entrance gates. when you leave, there are only 2 exits. most likely you won't get out any faster than those who parked in the other lots. shoreline thanks you for the extra money. the mountain view cops love to spoil a good time, so be careful out there.

Actually we always get the premiere lot for the following reasons:
1. there is grass areas around the area to sit
2. there are an abundunce of porta potties
3. we f*ckin tailgate like crazy (plastic cups,no BBQs)
4. It is generally patrolled by Shoreline security and not the local PD
5.you are only about 50 yards from the entrance to Shoreline.

With that being said we still may choose the Sports Page if it is an option

For those of you that may be wondering, The Sports Page and the Parking lots are just about one mile apart, so walking from one to the other isn't out of the question.

It may take away some of the buzz, so there's another reason to drink another.
I'm just tryin' to get by being quiet and shy,
In a world full of pushin' and shove.
