Wallace Wade Stadium - Durham NC

Post by MarySea1024 »

Rumor has it, it is a done deal....Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, NC, this summer. Might as well use that stadium for some useful purpose...because Duke sure ain't no football school! ;) Saw the Stones there in October! Great venue!!

No offense, but great venue? You went to Wallace Wade stadium....at Duke...and thought it was great? It's like a high school football stadium. In fact, I've seen BETTER high school FB stadiums!

That being said, I've only ever been there for FB games, and like you said, Duke ain't no FB school....so maybe it serves better as a concert venue than a FB stadium.

JB needs to come to a real college FB stadium....like Death Valley. Not that one in Baton Rouge....the one here in Clemson. :D

Always one in the crowd! You missed my whole point.......

No offense but yes, THE ROLLING STONES were not only great, but awesome. AND YES, it was a great venue....they served beer, had limo service to the gate. Small venue...not into the HUGE crowds, packed in like sardines.

Why would you want limo service to the gate for a Buffett concert? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of tailgating?

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

Yes, the Stones were awesome. The venue? It sucked! They served beer... well I guess that's a good thing. We parked in downtown Durham and took the shuttle bus there because there is no place to tailgate nearby. That's no fun for a Jimmy Buffett show. When we left we had to cram ourselves between these two buildings as a giant mass of waddling sardines. Then, to top it off, everyone crammed into the bus road so the shuttle buses could not get in. It took us two hours just to get onto a shuttle bus to get back to the car. I sure hope that Jimmy does not ever play there.
Hey Snake, we need more wine!

Wallace Wade would be an awful place for a show for all the reasons noted above.

Not to mention when you eventually got out of the show and took the stinkin' shuttle bus back to downtown Durham (shudder!) you'd be lucky not to get killed-especially if you did not know how horrible it is-if you lived....to find your car intact-or there.

Don't tell me Durham gets a bad rap-it gets what it earns. Sure, there are many very nice parts of Durham, but you would not be going there. :x

That is why we took a limo and we "tailgated" in the limo at the gate! Sorry, I wasn't specific. Improvise!!!
